Students add specially created Squarecrows around the Courthouse The first ever "Squarecrow" (scarecrows on the square) contest coordinated by the Adair Heritage Association is providing fun and creative outlets leading up to Columbia's annual Downtown Days celebration. No one can remember when there have been so many smiles and positive comments going around. Yes, there is a contest: See: Ellen Zornes announces Peoples Choice Squarecrow Award with a growing number of Squarecrow entry photo(s), which should be completed no later than Fri 9 Oct 2015. If your entry is not yet posted, we welcome full sized, landscape oriented photos with full captions. - LINDA & ED The population grew dramatically today as Adair Public School students brought their Squarecrows and added them on the lawn around the Courthouse. On the Greensburg Street side were creations by both Adair County High School and Adair County Elementary School. For a brief time Adair County Middle School students took charge of the Jamestown Street side of the historic Courthouse and installed their Squarecrows. Principal Alma Rich said participating students were from ACMS Science and Math Classes and also students from the Beta Club who did their Squarecrows as a community service project. 4 year old hit by vehicle in Campbellsville Officers Charlie Houk, Andy Warren, Dexter Colvin of the Campbellsville Police Department investigated an injury accident today, Monday October 5, 2015. The officers reported that at around 3pmET, a 1991 Ford Thunderbird was being operated westbound on Kenny Street by 79 year old Laverne Sapp when a 4 year old male juvenile darted out into the street in front of her. Sapp was unable to avoid the collision. The 4 year old juvenile was transported to Taylor Regional Hospital for treatment and was later transferred to Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville for treatment of his injuries. Harris: I'm alright and Adam is where he needs to be for now A public prayer service is scheduled in Columbia for families dealing with addiction. By Linda Waggener Mike Harris called to say that he is home from the hospital, he is alright and that his son is where he needs to be for now. He said he and his wife Laura have nothing but love and forgiveness for Adam who is "one of the most compassionate people we know" in the absence of drug addiction. The family had been dealing with the addiction privately until Saturday when Adam's actions took a violent turn and resulted in injuries to, and hospitalization of, his dad. Mike said his son's behavior appeared similar to persons observed when under the influence of a drug that has been mixed with foreign substances.
