Singing Amazing Grace with the Foundation UMC congregation

By Linda Waggener

Growing up, our church was Sulphur Well United Methodist. Later, when my family lived in Edmonton, the church was Edmonton United Methodist. So it only made sense last Sunday for Mom, Geniece Marcum, to get her wish and attend Foundation United Methodist Church which is located about half way between Sulphur Well and Edmonton on Hwy. 68 in Metcalfe County.

It was a wonderful service preached by pastor Jonathan Meadows and Mom enjoyed being among her friends from the area, especially two of her former coworkers, Janet Bell and Jimmy Acree, from the years they worked the Cumberland Parkway toll booths at the Edmonton exit.

A note on the trial day:
We had a beautiful day and that morning the square looked like something out of a magazine with FM2 in full swing, trucks with kayaks in their beds and registration taking place at the historic courthouse - ELLEN ZORNES

By Ellen Zornes

The Trail Town Committee Chairs met this afternoon, Monday, June 8, 2015, with Elaine Wilson, Kentucky Adventure Tourism Director, about our next steps after our successful Trial Run that was held Saturday, May 30 on Russell Creek.

It was determined that we are in good shape to become a certified Trail Town after we complete a few necessary assessments, map all our trails (hiking, biking, kayak and canoeing, horseback and off road), put up a kiosk at what will be our trailhead and complete our Action Plan paperwork.

Billy Joe Fudge deduces bear was headed for Jericho

from telephone report from Billy Joe Fudge
Billy Joe Fudge, one of the most knowledgeable students of Bear behavior, having studied several on Hopewell Acres on Crocus Creek in Cumberland County, KY, and in the environs of Inroad in Adair, has been dropping pins and and, from reports he's gotten, he can trace the Bear which crossed Adair County on Sunday from downtown Hardscratch to the Zion area, to Holmes Bend Road, to Egypt and thinks the bear, more or less.

He wonders if it were headed for Johnny Vaughan's residence in the Jericho Community. It's just a theory, he says. He said that a customer at a beauty salon on KY 551 left the shop and was frightened by the bear.

He said there are some really clear photos with recognizable landmarks, of the bear - if there were just one - in Hardscratch.

Awaiting picture after report from Heart of TX of Bear at Egypt

Bear sightings in Adair County gone nationwide, as we are hearing from all over: From Texas, from Fayette County, and Egypt and Zion, KY

We have received word from Big Al Owens, the Big Rig Trucker as he was headed for Waco, then Brownsville, TX, pulling for the H & O Outfit of Campbellsville, KY, that a Bear has been sighted at Egypt. After finding Hooters in Waco, and eating there - first things first, he says - he said he would transmit a picture of the bear, which he thinks may be littler than the Bear that Alice Curry captured on her cell phone sitting at a mailbox on Brockman Road, in Egypt.

When he called he had just passed Carl's Corner, headed south, and paid homage to Willie Nelson.

The bear picture will be posted as soon as we can get to it. In the meantime, we're linking Alice Curry's picture to compare when the Bear at Egypt photo arrives from somewhere on the road in Texas. - EW

Dave Rosenbaum comments on Bear Board

Comments re article 75737 Kathryn Krug How did the bear get through the fence

Dave Rosenbaum writes:
The silence of the Bear Board is deafening! - Dave Rosenbaum
Thanks, Dave, I think - The Bear Board is reacting calmly and rationally, as always. We have no intention of inciting bear hysteria in Adair County. I myself am/are awaiting instructions from Johnny Vaughan and/or Garry Coomer. I'm sure we'll be out in force with this outbreak of bear activity. (We have as yet heard no word of martial law being declared by Judge Stephens; the last time martial law was declared was when dynamite was used for firecrackers on Halloween or the 4th of July. That was a few years back, when Bruce Montgomery was County Judge. Heard that story many times from Grover Gilpin.) - EW
