Glory Days for Catalpas 2015: An album

Three photos to start, at 7:07amCT, Tue 2 Jun 2015

As a favorite season peaks, we're collecting this year's catalpa pictures into one album. There will be time to link additional submissions in the next three or four days, maybe as long as a weeking, owing to the traffic load.

For now, there are several. It's hard to say where in the 7-County area of Adair, Casey, Cumberland, Green, Metcalfe, Russell and Taylor Counties of South Central Kentucky the trees are the prettiest. Quickest to come to mind is the unofficial Catalpa Trace, Columbia to Cane Valley to Coburg/Tampico-on-the-Pike, Ireland to Campbellsville, Campbellsville Street/Campbellsville Road/New Columbia Road, KY 55 between Campbellsville and Columbia, soon to be the magnificent gateway, Heartland Parkway.

That just comes to mind first. Contrary opinions will be graciously tolerated. - ED & LINDA

Ann Heskamp recalls Tampico history, sad day in family history

Recalls postmasters George Romine or his wife Elsie as Taylor County Postmasters, "Heskamp & Co." and an ancester of Historian Betty Jane Gorin, and the murder of Henry Heskamp at age 35
Article comments on "Mike Watson: The Case of the County-Line-Jumping Post Office"

By Ann Heskamp

I enjoyed reading about Tampico which as you know, along with Coburg, is my ancestral home.

At one time I had a list of all the postmasters of Tampico, both in Taylor and Adair counties. But I couldn't find it. I seem to recall that either George Romine, or his wife Elsie was one of the Taylor County postmasters...Elsie Romine was my Granny Heskamp's sister.
