The Adair Fiscal Court met in a special session this morning at 9amCT, Tue 2 Jun 2015 and voted to sell a lot owned by the county at the corner of Merchant & High Streets and approved a contract with Taylor County RECC which will assure 3-Phase Service to the Jim Blair Center.

Only one bid was received for the lot. It was from SPM Properties, Inc., signed by Richard Phelps, for $42,501.00. The lot had been purchased earlier for $70,000.00, and was used for overflow parking for the Adair County 911 Center, located across the street at 107 N High Street.

Magistrate Daryl Flatt (District 2) moved for the sale of the property. Magistrate Sammy Baker (3) gave a second. The roll call vote was 7-1, with Magistrates Perry Reeder (4), Billy Dean Coffey (5), Greg Caldwell (6), and Terry Hadley (7) and CJE Mike Stephens affirming, and only Magistrate Harold Burton (1) voting no.

The county will now enter into negotiations with SPM Properties, Inc, toward purchase of a lot owned by them adjacent to the Adair 911 Center, fronting on Merchant and High Streets.

Also present at the meeting were representatives of the media, County Attorney Jennifer Hutchison-Corbin, County Finance Officer Gale Cowan, acting as recorder; and Deputy CJE Holly Grimsley.
