Marene Hadley, 90, Russell County, KY (1924-2015)

She was a native of Russell County and a resident of the county at the time of her death. She was the daugahter of the late Lonnie & Della Lee Smith Popplewell. Her husband, J.D. Hadley, survives. She was a former sales clerk at Pickett's Shoe Store. She was a member of French Valley United Methodist Church

Egypt Christian Youth group visits Green River Animal Shelter

It has been a very busy week at Green River Animal Shelter. We have rehomed 19 dogs/cats since Monday and we just wanted to say thank you to the community for taking interest and giving us encouraging words while we are in the midst of improving our shelter. We would also like to say thank you to the youth group that stopped by from Egypt Christian Church, above, in no particular order, Maddie Loy, Sara Dunbar, Jacob Doss, Hannah Absher, Kassidy Roy, Samantha Hadley and Gavin Loy. It was a pleasure to have them there and the dogs and cats loved the attention. We would like to encourage anyone looking for a pet to stop by and see us. Our hours are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays 10am-5pmCT and Saturdays 10am-2pmCT. Phone 270-385-9655 or 270-572-9943 after hours. Thanks, KIM SALLEE Director.

Greg Reeder, 64, Adair Co., KY (1950-2015)

Greg was a devoted servant of the Lord who attended & was a member of Sparksville Church of the Nazarene for 35 plus years, where he sang and played the piano. He was a devoted husband, father, pa and friend and an avid gardener. He was a truck driver and at time of his death he was a school bus driver for the Adair County Board of Education. He was a member of a highly regarded family. He was the son of Joyce Helm Reeder and the late Calvin Reeder. His wife, Deeanna Hamlett Reeder survives. He leaves three direct living descendants.

Katherine Joan Thacker Long, age 64, of Edmonton, died Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at her daughters residence in Edmonton, KY.

Funeral services were Saturday, March 21, 2015, at 2pmCT, at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, 2232 Summer Shade Road, Summer Shade, KY, with burial to follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation began, Friday, March 20, 2015, at 2pmCT and after 7amCT on Saturday, until time of services.

Mrs. Gladys M. Keltner, Green County, KY (1916-2014)

She was native of Metcalfe County, KY, the daughter of the late Joseph Rogers Mitchell and Lizzie Lee Boston Mitchell. She was the widow of Gleason Mauk Keltner, her husband of over 44 years. She leaves three direct living descendants. She had made a profession of faith In Christ and was a member of the Greensburg Baptist Church. She retired in 1981 from Kentucky Utilities, where she was a bookkeeper and clerk. She worked for the Red Cross for 17 years and was a former member of the Highland Homemakers for 25 years.

William Howard Glenn, 70, Adair County, KY (1945-2015)

He was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He will be accorded full military honors at committal services. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a mail handler. He was a native of Newton, MA and a resident of Columbia, KY at the time of his death. He was the widower of Sheila Joyce McCawley Glenn. GLASGOW, KY (20 Mar 2015) - Lieutenant Governor Crit Luallen today joined community leaders to announce that an industrial site in Glasgow will be officially certified under Kentucky's new Build-Ready program.

Build-Ready, launched by the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development last year, is a cost-effective way for communities to distinguish their list of available industrial sites to meet the needs of today's site selectors.
