She was a native of Glasgow, KY, and a resident of Edmonton at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Gladys White Baker and Floyd Thacker. She was the widow of James Long. She leaves 10 direct living descendants

Katherine Joan Thacker Long, age 64, of Edmonton, died Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at her daughters residence in Edmonton, KY.

Funeral services were Saturday, March 21, 2015, at 2pmCT, at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, 2232 Summer Shade Road, Summer Shade, KY, with burial to follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation began, Friday, March 20, 2015, at 2pmCT and after 7amCT on Saturday, until time of services.

Katherine Joan Thacker Long, Metcalfe Co., KY (1951-2015)

Born February 3, 1951, in Glasgow, Barren County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Gladys White Baker and Floyd Thacker. She died Wednesday, March 18, 2015, in Edmonton, Metcalfe County, KY, at the age of 64 years, one month, and 15 days.

She was the widow of the late James Long.

Survivors include the following:
  • One daughter: Martha Long, Edmonton, KY

  • One son: Dillion Branham, Edmonton, KY

  • Three sisters: Barbara Shaw, Summer Shade, KY; Wanda Baker, Summer Shade, KY; and Martha Jo Ruffner, Crawfordsville, IN

  • Four brothers: Jimmy White, Summer Shade, KY; Floyd Thacker Jr., Burkesville, KY; Elvis Thacker, Burkesville, KY; and Roger Thacker Crawfordsville, IN

  • Four grandchildren: James Thompson, Tara Corbin, Natalie Branham, and Annabelle Branham

  • Three great grandchildren: Ethan Thompson, Jayden Thompson, and Aleeah Thompson.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Harold Long and Wendell Branham, and one brother Keith Thacker.

Memorials may be made to the funeral fund.

McMurtrey Funeral Home, 2232 Summer Shade Road, Summer Shade, KY, in charge of arrangements.
