On Sunday, August 31, 2014, from 1pmCT to 4pmCT, the Metcalfe County School Board and Dr. Benny Lile are hosting a "Final Tour" of the building at 100 Hornet Avenue, Edmonton, KY (school fronts on US 68/80, W Stockton Street) of the one time Metcalfe County High School, later Metcalfe County Middle School, which is a walking tour through the building before demolition begins in September.

Buildings. There are buildings and then there are just buildings. There are buildings that gave us a stage for our lives to unfold and then there are buildings. There are buildings we grieve over their loss like a close friend and then there are buildings. Schools are more than just buildings. Whether good or bad, most will have an attachment to a school building from the past.

Card shower going well, but still short of 90 for Noel Harvey

Noel Harvey, long time proprietor of Harvey store in Breeding, is having a special 90th birthday on Sunday, August 31, 2014

By Brandon Harvey

I made an earlier request for a card shower for my grandfather, Noel Harvey, who will be celebrating his 90th birthday on Sunday, August 31, 2014. Everyday I receive cards, but I'm still a little short of 90; My goal is for him to receive at least 90 cards, one for every day of this very special man.

My grandparents and great-grandparents operated the country store in Breeding for several decades. After I was born, they closed the store to become full-time grandparents. If anyone has a funny story, remembrance, etc., please include it in the card.

In order to keep it a surprise, please send the cards to:
