Mr. J.W. (Bill) Edwards, Green Co., KY (1938-2014)

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greensburg Presbyterian Church. He was former Green County P.V.A. from 1977 - 2002, Green County Magistrate from 1972 - 1976, a Korean War Veteran having served in the United States Navy, a member of the American Legion Rod Lowe Post #124, American Legion Edwards-Obanion Post #82, Charter member of AMVETS, Charter member of the Green County Country Club, was of the Democratic Party, and was a strong supporter of the Green County athletics.

Mr. J.W. "Bill" Edwards, 76 of Greensburg, Kentucky, departed this life on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Norton Hospital, Louisville, KY.

The funeral services for J.W. "Bill" Edwards will be conducted at 2pmCT, Friday, August 29, 2014 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY with burial to follow in the Green County Memory Gardens. Bro. Charlie Taylor and Joel Bennett will be officiating. Visitation is requested 3pm-9pmCT, Thursday, August 28, 2014, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT, Friday until time of the funeral service.



Pallbearers: Matthew Edwards, Matthew Wright, Weston Wright, Carter Wright, Max Mobley, Alex Mobley, Logan Edwards, Austin Reliford, Matthew Taylor, Keaton Druin. Zach Humphrey, R.J. Dunagan, Jordan Tedrow, and Josh Miller.

Honorary pallbearers: Ron's Hardware Crew, Dominoes Club, John Frank, Redell Jewell Past & Present PVA, Neighbors of Coxes Bend, Donnie Reynolds, Greensburg Presbyterian Church Members.

Mr. J.W. "Bill" Edwards of Greensburg, Kentucky, was the son of the late Woodrow Lynn Edwards and Maxine Larimore Edwards. He was born on March 15, 1938 in the Bluff Boom area of Green County, KY, and departed this life on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Norton Hospital, Louisville, Jefferson County, KY. He was 76 years, five months, and 11 days of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greensburg Presbyterian Church. He was former Green County P.V.A. from 1977 - 2002, Green County Magistrate from 1972 - 1976, a Korean War Veteran having served in the United States Navy, a member of the American Legion Rod Lowe Post #124, American Legion Edwards-Obanion Post #82, Charter member of AMVETS, Charter member of the Green County Country Club, was of the Democratic Party, and was a strong supporter of the Green County athletics. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Anne Edwards of Greensburg, KY, having united in marriage on November 29, 1957.

Other survivors include the following:
  • Two daughters and sons-in-law: Beverly and Greg Reliford of Allendale, KY: Mary Beth and Joel Mobley of Oxford, Mississippi

  • Two sons and daughters-in-law: Bill and Ann Edwards of Campbellsville, KY; John and Robyn Edwards of Buffalo, KY

  • Seven grandchildren: Laura Edwards of Greensburg, KY; Rebecca Wright and her husband Matthew of Summersville, KY; Matthew Edwards of Greensburg, KY; Austin Reliford of Bowling Green, KY; Logan Edwards of Campbellsville, KY and Max and Alex Mobley of Mississippi

  • Two great-grandchildren: Weston and Carter Wright of Summersville, KY

  • One step-grandchild: LaShonda Darnell of Buffalo, KY

  • Two sisters and a brother-in-law: Elizabeth Jones of Greensburg, KY; and Jean and Tony Ennis of Hodgenville, KY

  • A daughter-in-law: Vicki Edwards of Greensburg, KY

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by one son Robert Woodrow Edwards in 1984; and a brother-in-law: Leo Jones.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Green County Middle School Football, Green County Public Library, or the Greensburg Presbyterian Church, which can be made at the funeral home.
