Dora Aliene Foster, Adair County, KY (1927-2014)

Mrs. Foster was a member of Bloomington Chapel Brethren in Christ Church and was a homemaker. She was a member and matriarch of a highly regarded Northeast Adair County family, She was the daughter of the late Sidney Owen and Mary Susan Cowan Streeval, and the widow of Willie R. Foster. She leaves 89 direct living descendants.

Columbia Police Department, 116 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY

A Columbia man is dead as a result of a collision which occurred this morning, Thursday, July 10, 2012, in front of Don Franklin Ford, 576 Hudson Street, Columbia, KY.

The collision occurred when a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier traveling south, left the roadway and struck two parked vehicles in front of Don Franklin Ford. The collision caused one of the parked vehicles to overturn.

The driver of the vehicle Robert Salinas 29, of Columbia was entrapped in the vehicle.

The Perfect Wave opens, Green River 6 Cinemas, July 11, 2014

The movie, "The Perfect Wave," will be opening Friday, July 11, 2014, at 12:55pmCT/1:55ET, at 3pmCT/4pmET, at 6pmCT/7pmET, at 8pmCT/9pmET, and 10:15CT/11:15ET, at the Green River 6 Cinemas, 730 Campbellsville Bypass, Campbellsville, KY 42718 in Campbellsville, KY, as well as in theaters in Somerset, Frankfort, and Elizabethtown, KY. Director Bruce McDonald and Ian McCormack, whose life is portrayed in the movie by Scott Eastwood, were both in Columbia, KY, last week to promote the film.

The film is about an Australian surfer's search for the perfect wave, and the incident off the coast of Mauritius where he was lethally stung by a box jellyfish, his memory of the afterlife, hell, heaven and back and was converted from atheism to become a Christian. McCormack visited South Central Kentucky for a series of five meetings, January 19-23, 2011, in Columbia, Somerset, Russell Springs, Eli, and Campbellsville, KY. ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (July 10, 2014) – Bridge construction will require closure of KY 3211 north of the intersection with Bear Track Road (Mile Point 4.4) in Taylor County on Monday, July 14, 2014.

Work is expected to take 3 weeks to complete.

On behalf of the Columbia-Adair County Tourism Commission I would like to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to everyone who participated in the "Quilts on the Move" project over the past week-end. There were many displays of beautiful quilts throughout the City and County. Also, I would like to say "special thanks" for the photos displayed on ColumbiaMagazine.com. Beautiful photos!

Emergency Response teams at 2-car injury collision, scene

Columbia City Police, units of the Adair County Emergency Medical Service and the Columbia Fire Department are on the scene at a two vehicle injury collision which occurred at appoximately 8:15amCT, this morning, Thursday, July 10, 2014, in front of Don Franklin Ford on Hudson Street, Columbia, KY. Deputy Rainwater investigating White Oak Church RD burglary

Big Reward offered

Adair County Deputy Sheriff Aaron Rainwater is investigating a residential burglary which is believed to have occurred sometime between 1pmCT and 4pmCT, Tuesday afternoon, July 8, 2014 at a location of White Oak Church Road in eastern Adair County.

According to the Adair County Sheriff's Office, items totalling thousands of dollars in value were taken. A reward of $5,000 is offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who committed this crime. - Larry Smith

Gentry pleads guilty to robbing UCB Bank, Columbia; attempt at UCB C-Ville

Eugene Earl Gentry agrees to sentence of 240 months in prison and supervised release. Formal sentencing is October 8, 2012. Gentry admits robbing UCB in Columbia on October 15, 2012 and carjacking branch manager's 1998 Ford Ranger pickup, and attempting to rob UCB in Campbellsville October 29, 2013. This case prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Randy Ream and is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) with assistance from the Columbia Police Department and the Adair County, Kentucky, Sheriff’s Department, and Campbellsville Police Department,
