Injury accident occurs on Saloma Road, Campbellsville, KY

Passenger in 2010 Ford Focus treated at the scene by Taylor EMS, then transported to Taylor County Regional Hospital

Deputies Dickie Benningfield and Mark Dickens of Taylor County Sheriff's Department investigated a two vehicle injury collision on Saloma Road, Campbellsville, KY, at 5.37pmET, Monday, June 23, 2014. The accident occurred when Clayton Rule, 20, of Raikes Hill Road, Elk Horn, KY, operating a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria, stopped to allow a vehicle to turn left on to Twin Creek Road.

Cynthia Frank, 20, of Old Pitman Road, Campbellsville, KY, operating a 2010 Ford Focus, did not notice the Rule vehicle had stopped, according to officers, and made contact with the rear of the Ford Crown Victoria.

A passenger in Frank's car, Erica Cox, was injured in the accident. She was treated at the scene by Taylor County EMS and was transported to Taylor Regional Hospital for treatment. - From Taylor County Sheriff's Department, Campbellsville, KY

KY Dept. of Agriculture offering spay & neuter grants

Fiscal courts and 501(c)(3) organizations more than three years old are eligible to apply for the grants. Eligible applicants may use funding to hold a spay/neuter clinic or run a voucher program.

Mr. John William Phillips, 67, Burkesville, KY (1946-2014)

He was of Baptist faith and attended Spears Chapel Community Church. He was an artist and a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran. He was a native of Effingham County, GA, and a resident of Cumberland County, KY, at the time of his death. His wife, Linda Cary Phillips, survives.

He was the son of the late John and Bertha Branham Abston. He was a member of a large, respected family, with strong family ties in Metcalfe, Barren, Cumberland, Warren, and Adair County, KY. His wife, Shelvie Jean Rowe Abston, survives. He leaves six direct living descendants.

FRANKFORT, KY - The Kentucky Department of Agriculture is offering grants totaling $150,000 to help Kentuckians spay and neuter their pets.

"It's important to spay and neuter pets as a matter of public safety and for the well-being of the animals," Agriculture Commissioner James Comer said. "This is a very popular program that helps control the population of unwanted animals in Kentucky."

Darrell Treece heads Higbee R-VIII School District in Missouri

Former Superintendent Darrell Treece, who presided over the Adair County School District in a nine year period which saw the consolidation of the Adair County Schools onto one campus, the construction of Adair County Elementary School and the beginning of construction of the Adair County Primary Center in his 9 year tenure, has been called out of retirement to be superintendent in Missouri. He was scheduled to start July 1, but unforeseen circumstances necessitated full time there starting May 27. Father's Day was his last day as pastor of Russell Heights Baptist Church here, but Mr. Treece still calls Adair County his permanent home, he says in this article requested by the editor of ColumbiaMagazine.com for Mr. Treeces hometown following.

I had promised to drop you a paragraph about my new endeavor. I was hired in March to begin on July 1 as superintendent of the Higbee R-VIII School District in Missouri. However, the outgoing superintendent had surgery on May 9 and was unable to return to work.

The Campbellsville Police Department arrested a person on Thursday, June 19, 2014, allegedly involved in a fraudulent check cashing scheme. At approximately 4:21pmET, the Campbellsville Police Department received a call from United Citizens Bank reporting a man was attempting to cash what was believed to be a fraudulent check.

BOIL WATER ADVISORY. Date Issued: Monday, June 23, 2014. Time Issued 7:20amCT. Received: 7:31amCT. Posted 7:32amCT.
A BOIL WATER ADVISORY is in effect for consumers of Columbia Adair Utilities District for customers on
Campbellsville Street, N Reed Street, Public Square, N Monroe Street, Jones Street, Merchant Street, E Fortune Street, Burkesville Street.
The advisory has been issued due to main line leak. Following such an event, the potential exists for bacteriological contamination of the water supply therefore this Boil Water Advisory has been issued as a precautionary measure. Until further notice, boil all water used for drinking and cooking, bringing the water to a rolling boil for three minutes before using. This advisory will remain in effect until the situation has been corrected and test results have shown the water to be of an acceptable quality. - COLUMBIA/ADAIR UILITIES DISTRICT

Pug/Chihuahua adopted within hour of posting - on Sunday

Adorable puppies already in new homes. But homes still needed for other puppies for this summer, a good time for many families to adopt while kids have time to learn responsible dog care.

Just want to let you know that the two Pug/Chihuahua puppies were adopted within an hour. They have both gone to good homes. The male puppy (PHOTO) was adopted by the Riddle family and has been named "Simba". The female puppy (the second picture) was adopted by James and Shea Furkin.
