She was born in Boyle County, KY, and was a resident of Casey County at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Allister and Helen Williams Hammonds. She was the widow of Winfrey Watson. She leaves 7 direct living descendants. She was a Retired Elementary Teacher for 37 years having taught in Casey and Pulaski County School Systems and a member of Valley Oak Baptist Church.

New LIfe for the Nations Campmeeting in this weekend, June 20-22, 2014, at 5095 Campbellsville Road, Columbia, KY 42728.

The theme this year is "Overflow: Flooding the world with the love of Jesus."

The Friday night, June 20, 2014, speaker is Dr. Jim Childs from Madisonville, KY. Special music is by Simple Truth.

The Saturday night, June 21, 2014, speaker is Pastor Joe Payne and the Eunice Church of God will be presenting the special music.

The Sunday morning, June 22, 2014 speaker is Dr. Jim Childs with the New Life Praise team. Service time is 9:30amCT.

In 2000, Kentucky passed "Bryan's Law," which makes a person liable for second-degree manslaughter or first-degree wanton endangerment for leaving a child younger than eight years of age in a motor vehicle where circumstances pose a grave risk of death

Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY

(FRANKFORT, Ky.) - The Kentucky State Police remind parents not to leave a child alone in a hot car as temperatures in the Bluegrass are on the rise. It may seem like common sense, but every year law enforcement agencies answer calls about unattended children in vehicles. The National Safety Council (NSC) reports that nine children have already died in 2014 from being left in hot cars across the U.S.

(Ad) Reward for information leading to conviction in theft case

Tools taken from trailer at Fun Center Construction location at intersection of Shady Lane and Campbellsville Road, Columbia, KY

We have had a person or persons steal tools from a locked parked trailer at the Fun Center location, it was between late Friday night, June 13, till this morning, Monday, June 16, 2014, when it was discovered. I would like to give a reward for any information that leads to a conviction of the persons who took the tools. If any sees anyone trying to pawn them, please contact Barney Burns @ 270-250-1171. He was an employee of SEWS in Edmonton, KY, and was the son of Kenneth Alderson Sr and Beverly Johnsen Alderson of Edmonton. His wife, Amanda Hurt Alderson, survives. He leaves three direct living descendants

Funeral services will be held 11amCT, Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton. Place of burial will be announced later. Visitation will be 5pm-8pmCT, Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at the funeral home. He was an employee of SEWS in Edmonton and was the son of Kenneth Alderson Sr and Beverly Johnsen Alderson of Edmonton, KY. Besides his parents he is survived by his wife Amanda Hurt Alderson and the following:
  • Three children; Marcus, Devin and Lily Alderson all of Edmonton, KY

  • One brother: Fred Alderson of Nevada, Iowa

  • And one sister: Tammy Trumbo of Edmonton, KY

  • His nieces and nephews: Megan Trumbo, Peyton Alderson, Cheyanna Trumbo, Lacey Trumbo and Aiden Alderson

  • One great nephew Kyle Parke

She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star Pitman Chapter #157. She was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom and Campbellsville University. She was the widow of Ralph W. Keltner. She was a member of a highly regarded Cumberland Co., KY family with strong family ties also in Adair County, KY, and elsewhere. She was the daughter of the late Millard and Pearl Riddle Spears and the widow of Bernice Bowlin, her husband of 60 years until his death just 15 days prior. She was a member of Parrish Chapel United Methodist Church, a former employee of Sutton Apparel, and the Cumberland County Board of Education.

Sarah is the daughter of Rodney Thompson and Amy Chaney. She is a student at Lindsey Wilson College and employed by Grant Chiropractic.

Jordan is the son of Roy and Kathy Dean. He is a graduate of Lindsey Wilson College and the Department of Criminal Justice at Eastern Kentucky University. He is employed by the City of Columbia as a police officer.

After a honeymoon cruise to the Caribbean they will make their home in Columbia.

Already Up: Adair County Fair Fireworks Night, Edmonton/Metcalfe County's July 5, 2014, Independence Day Celebration

July 4, 2014 Events are already coming in and are being posted in news stories and in CM EVENTS.

The huge Adair County Fair Fireworks night is posted. It kicks off the Adair County Fair, held this year July 4, 5, and 7 thru 12, 2014 (SCHEDULE). We'll be adding itemized events for each of the nights over the next few days, so that each days schedule will appear in the daily CM Events on the Front Page of CM.

Though most people know that most government offices are closed on July 4, 2014, we'll be happy to accept submissions for specific closings and post as many as possible.

If your community, club, church or other organization will be having special July 4, 2014 Events, please submit using any Contact/Submit button. If you experience any difficulty with the post, please call - and please don't resubmit until you call - for assistance in posting. The number is 270-250-2730. The Columbia Rotary Club took the final lap to finish walking around the world at Blue Raider Stadium, Lindsey Wilson Sports Park, logging their individual walks as well as other community members' walks.

Rotary Members at the grand finish were President Hunter Durham, Kaye Bowman, Mary Keltner, Dawson Cunningham, JD Zornes, Ted Caldwell, Ellen Zornes, Phil Hanna, David Waltz.

The group was able to meet its goal...and right before the annual Rotary Auction, Monday and Tuesday, June 23 & 24, 2014, 6pmCT - 9 pmCT on both 93.5 WAIN and 92.7 The WAVE. There are already lots of great items! Help us send local high school graduates to Lindsey Wilson College. Individuals, groups and businesses can help. Contact any Rotary Member.
