Schools back in session Jan. 2, 2014: Cold front moving in

By Larry Smith, FM 92.7 the WAVE; FM 99.9 the Big Dawg

Almost all area schools - Adair Co., Campbellsville Independent, Casey Co., Green County, Russell County, and Taylor Co. Districts - are back in session at regular times on Thursday, January 2, 2014, and parents are reminded to dress their children in very warm clothes for the approaching cold front. (Metcalfe Co. is not back in session until Monday, January 6, 2013)

Talking with two area Superintendents, Michael Ford of Russell County, and Alan Reed of Adair, Shorelines Communications has learned that school officials are monitoring the weather very closely.

Wind chill factors are expected to be in the low teens or lower by bus pickup time. - Larry Smith, Operations Manager, Shoreline Communications

Election 2014 (Ad): Harrison Moss, for Adair Co. Sheriff

2014-01-01 - Political Advertising Paid for by the Candidate - Photo Campaign Photo.

To the great citizens and voters of Adair Co., KY

Your vote and support in the Tuesday, May 20, 2014 Primary Election will be greatly appreciated

I would like to thank you for your support and help during my 3 years as your sheriff.

We have had a very successful war against drugs in Adair County, especially Methamphetamines, and, when you combat drugs, you also combat violence and theft.

We now have all our Deputies Academy Trained. The Adair County Sheriff's Office has officers on duty or on call 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Our audits are still excellent and, while the budget is very strenuous, we have never exceeded our budget.

Our Deputies, staff and I strive daily to provide a Fair, Honest, and Efficient Sheriff's Office for you, the Citizens of Adair County.

As we enter the Year of 2014 begins - this election year - I humbly ask for your vote and support in the upcoming election. I will try to see as many of you as possible. If I don't see you, please know that I would appreciate your vote and I want you to know that your vote on my behalf will be for Continued Honesty, Integrity, and Dependability in Your Sheriff's Office.

Thanks you.

Sheriff Harrison Moss

Poetry by Robert Stone: Memories not yet made

Memories though not made yet
- a sonnet for the birthday of Lisa Comperry, December 31, 2013
I am that sort well chosen words inspire
and think a picture not a thousand worth
but must provoking images admire
when what I see gives fading sight rebirth.

I gladly say I see what you show me,
my friend who sees beyond the outer shell,
and thank you for another apogee
to which I words afix a tale to tell.

I would that I could look into a glass
and glancing back recall how I appear
but my own shape to me is but a pass
from wondering to wandering unclear.

All future moments with each spot paid bet
may memories become though not made yet.
- Robert Stone, 31 December 2013
