Warren O'Neal Hayes, West, KY, (1941-2013)

He was a sawmill owner/operator and a member of Creston Baptist Church. He was the son of hte late Lonnie & Biner Sapp Hayes. His wife, Cora Ellen Scott Hayes, survives. He leaves three direct living descendants.

Warren O'Neal Hayes, 72, of West, KY 70, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 12noonCT/1pmET, Friday, November 1, 2013, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY with Bros. Dwight Coffman and Jeric DeVore officiating. Burial will follow in Whited Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5pm-8pmCT/6pm-9pmET, on Thursday, October 31, 2013, at the funeral home.

Andrew Parson succeeds Dave Grigsby as LWC Cycling Coach

Parson returns to his alma mater where he captured the Mountain Cross national title in 2005. Parson takes over highly successful program - the only sports program in Adair County History ever to produce an Olympic competitor - after serving as an assistant coach to Coach Grigsby, on the Lindsey Wilson cycling staff during the 2012-13 season. Prior to joining the Lindsey Wilson staff, Parson was the owner and operator of Gravity Fitness and Gravity Motorsports in Greensburg, KY. A.D. says Parson an easy choice to follow Coach Grigsby. Parson holds bachelor's degree in art and minor in communication from Lindsey Wilson

Walter Edwin (Jack) Pike, Taylor Co., KY (1924-2013)

He was a veteran of World War II having served his country honorably in the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion Edward's O'Banion Post No. 82 for sixty-eight years. He was a retired employee of Campbellsville Industries and a farmer. He was the patriarch of a large highly regarded family. His wife, Irene Bradshaw, survives. He leaves 37 direct living descendants, spanning 4 generations

Sheriff Moss suggests possible tie in: Chase crash, UCB robbery

Adair County Sheriff Harrison Moss is quoted on a Lexington Tv station as saying that Eugene Earl Gentry, the fleeing driver involved in the high speed chase, is a person of interest in the robbery of the United Citizens Bank branch on Campbellsville Road in October, 2012. - Larry Smith, The WAVE FM 92.7 and The BIG DAWG, 99.9 FM

Sheriff Moss said in a phone interview this morning that he was called to assist Taylor County officials went to the crash scene at the diesel repair shop north of Asbury Church in Taylor County. "When they told me about the behavior of the driver in the Campbellsville bank," he said, "it matched the way the robber behaved at the UCB robbery in Columbia last October," Sheriff Moss said. "When I saw Gentry in the car, he looked to me to be the same man who was on the video surveillance camera from that robbery."

Sheriff Moss said that the Columbia Police Department is the lead group investigating the robbery last October at UCB."

COLUMBIA, KY - A record number of area children turned out Tuesday night, October 29, 2013 for Lindsey Wilson College's 20th-annual "Safe Halloween." A total of 970 children trick-or-treated through the college's residence halls, enjoyed activities on the Campus Quadrangle and in the Cralle Student Union Building, and posed for pictures with LWC mascot Blue Raider Bob. Adair School Spotlight on: Barney Taylor, welding instructor

Mr. Taylor is a lifelong resident of Adair County and graduated for ACHS in 1986. He is a very active member of Pickett's Chapel United Methodist Church where he has taken on a leadership role as their Superintendant but is happiest working with the youth. Barney has been married to his wonderful wife, Nancy Baker Taylor, for 23 years and they have two children - 13 year old Hailey who attends ACMS and 9 year old Briley a student at ACES.

The Adair County School District is proud to spotlight Barney Taylor, welding instructor at Lake Cumberland Area Technology Center in Russell County which serves both Adair and Russell Counties. Mr. Taylor started teaching in 2004 after receiving his degree in technical education from Western Kentucky University. Prior to teaching, Mr. Taylor had gained hands-on experience in his area of expertise while working for Waste Energy Technology Construction Company, Taylor Services, and Sandusky Steel.

The Adair County Sheriff's Office in assisting the Russell County Sheriff's Office made a DUI arrest Tuesday, October 29. Russell County Deputy Clete McAninch was investigating a hit and run close to the Adair-Russell line on HWY 80 when he spotted a vehicle matching the description of a truck leaving the scene.

He was drafted in World War Two with U.S. Army Combat Engineers and Trained as a Coxwain/ Machine Gunner at Bangor, Maine, He attended College at Lindsey Wilson and University of Kentucky in 1950's when Bear Bryant and Adolph Rupp were coaching, also a member of U.K. Alumni, In the 1950's he was Assistant County Extension Agent for Simpson Co./Franklin, Kentucky, was a High School Teacher and Coach at Marrowbone High School, a High School Teacher and Basketball Coach 1960's-1980's at Cumberland County High School, a lifelong Farmer and Pastor of Church of The Lord Jesus Christ from 1970's until his passing.
