COLUMBIA, KY - Andrew Parson has been named the head cycling coach at Lindsey Wilson College, athletic director Willis Pooler announced on Tuesday, October 28, 2013.

Parson, a former Lindsey Wilson student-athlete, takes over the Blue Raider program after serving as an assistant coach on the Lindsey Wilson cycling staff during the 2012-13 season.

Parson takes over for David Grigsby who resigned earlier this year.

"He has done an excellent job as the assistant cycling coach and was the easy choice to replace David Grigsby upon his resignation," Pooler said. "Andrew has a tremendous passion for his sport, his student-athletes and our mission."

Parson returns to his alma mater where he won an individual national championship. He competed for four years as a Blue Raider, including winning the Mountain Cross National Championship at the 2005 USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Championships.

During his time as an assistant coach on the Lindsey Wilson cycling staff, Parson helped the program earn a sixth-place finish in the team Division I omnium. Lindsey Wilson was one of five teams to score on all five disciplines, track, mountain bike, cyclo-cross, BMX and road.

"We have a really strong team, a really super young team right now," Parson said. "We have two or three more years with a lot of these guys and girls that are already fast and competing at a high level and we're getting most of them back. That can just be bigger and better for us."

Parson also helped a pair of Blue Raiders to individual national championships during the 2012-13 season.

Prior to joining the Lindsey Wilson staff, Parson was the owner and operator of Gravity Fitness and Gravity Motorsports in Greensburg, KY.

Parson graduated from Lindsey Wilson in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in art and minor in communication.
