007 Pinball at Louisville Arcade Expo

2013-03-08 - 9700 Bluegrass Parkway, Louisville, KY 40299 - Photo by Pen. The Ramada Plaza just off Hurstbourne Lane is hosting the Louisville Arcade Expo this weekend. Packed into the Conference center are dozens of old arcade games, plus nearly a hundred pinball machines, all set on free play. - Pen. Just wondering? Does anyone still have any of the pinball machines which used give hours of entertainment in misspent youth (and Mayoral, paperboy, businessman, and professional) time? The picture brought to mind days of the line up of machines in the G&M Grill, Bob's Pool Hall, House of Billiards, and E.C. Waggener's Aetna Station at the foot of Town Hill. And of course, the man behind the machines, Tim (?) of Russell Springs, KY, who owned the games. Surely there is a warehouse full of them around here somewhere. - CM

TechLink: Could the Czech method be a lesson for us?

European country thinks of consumers first and long term cost. Instead of taking a windfall cash infusion for government from spectrum auction, Czech stop auction, looking out for consumers. Shouldn't government auctions be about what the people will get, instead of selling heritage for bowl of porridge? We've had it backward, haven't we? See what you think after reading: Czechs Cancel 4G Auction as Excessive Bids Top $1 Billion Businessweek at Bloomberg Reports. - CM

Adair Rocks: Why I love Adair County

So, I have found my piece of heaven. Beautiful land, friendly people and opportunities to help our fellow mankind. Who would wish for more. - TED CALDWELL
This is the first of at least three Adair Rocks articles. In the future, they will be carried mostly on Sundays, and this inaugural article will be included in the Sunday, March 10, 2013, Sunday with CM reading list. EW

By Ted Caldwell

Like most of us, I am a transplant. In the summer of 2001 I was finally in a position to leave California and find my "piece of heaven." Deciding that I wanted to relocate in Northern Tennessee or Southern Kentucky I packed up my worldly goods and drove cross country.

Warns of evil intentions of some getting free to good home pets

Comments re photo 48700 As of yet no one has adopted Cody Seth

Tami Wilson writes:
Not sure if these cats are listed as free, but please be aware that some people look for animals "free to a good home" to use as bait for dogs they train to be aggressive, or to torture.

It's very true, and people in KY have been convicted of doing so, and very recently. Others, of course, are never caught. Please be sure they go to a loving home. --Tami Wilson
Thanks, Tami Wilson - Mrs. Marcum reminds us, at home, of this problem every day. One thing I can assure you - the Kleinerts are the toughest screeners there are. I'm 100% confident Cody and Seth will only go to a loving, responsible home. - Ed Waggener

It is the last of 1,197 piles that are approximately three feet in diameter and extend up to 275 feet into bedrock below the foundation of the embankment.
