Driver seriously injured in Radcliff collision

RADCLIFF - On Saturday, March 2, 2013 at approximately 7:30amET a 2001 Ford F-150 driven by 37-year-old Michael L. Arnold of Brooks, KY was traveling east on KY 313 when he lost control of the vehicle. The F-150 rotated counter-clockwise, crossed the center line and struck a westbound 2008 Hyundai Accent driven by Franklin C. Dulaney, 36, from Radcliff, KY.

The crash occurred approximately one mile east of Radcliff. Both drivers were transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital where Arnold suffered injuries to his torso and legs. Dulaney was later airlifted to U of L Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He is currently listed in critical, but stable condition. Tpr. 13th Annual Read Adair County, Tuesday, March 5, 2013

The 13th Annual Read Adair County will be held at Adair County Elementary School, 870 Indian Drive, 4:30-6:30pmCT, Tuesday, March 5, 2013. Free pizza and soft drinks will be served.

The Cat in the Hat will be there to give each child a goody bag with a book, pencil and other stuff as well as lots of story book characters to read books and to have pictures taken with your child (bring your camera).

We will also have activity rooms, BINGO for Books, face painting and will be recognizing top Accelerated Readers for each school. You can dress as your favorite storybook character and join in the fun led by the Cat in the Hat himself. So come help us wish Dr. Seuss a Happy Birthday. Contact: Ellen Zornes at 270-384-3400.

Bill Phelps, Casey Co., KY (June 28, 1952 - March 4, 2013)

He was the patriarch of a respected Casey County family. His wife, Wanda Long Phelps, survives. He leaves 4 direct living descendants. He worked in the logging industry.

Bill Phelps passed away Monday March 4, 2013 in Casey County, KY. He was 60.

A memorial service will be 6pmCT/7pmET, Friday March 8, 2013, at Barnetts Creek United Methodist Church, 1338 Barnett's Creek Road, Columbia, KY, with Barry Bradshaw officiating. Visitation is Friday, 4pm-6pmCT/5pm-7pmET. Cremation rites have been honored by McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Barnett's Creek UMC Mission Fund.

She was the matriarch of a highly regarded South Adair County, KY, family. She was the daughter of the late George William and Nancy Guinnie Morrison Loy and the mother of Charlene Sneed and Jimmy Reliford. She leaves 11 direct living descendants. Mrs. Reliford was a homemaker and had attended the Emory Chapel Church.

Man arrested on drug charges as a result of disturbance call

On Sunday, March 3, 2013, Columbia Police Department responded to a disturbance call of a man acting suspicious and brandishing a knife in the parking lot of a local business. Arrested was 46 year old Kevin Reeder of Russell Springs on charges of Public Intoxication, Possession of a Controlled substance 2nd degree. (Drug Unspecified), and Possession of a Prescription Controlled Substance not in Proper Container. Reeder was lodged in Adair County Regional Jail by CPD Ofc. Josh Brockman and Sgt. Junior Murphy. The incident remains under investigation by Ofc. Brockman with additional charges pending.
