So thankful for the people who are building Mary's House

Ann Goff writes:
Ed, I just want to say again how thankful I am for the people who have worked so hard toward helping Mary and her family. This has just really touched my heart from the beginning, and to think now that they will be in their new house by Christmas just makes me so happy for them.

May God Bless them abundantly in their new home, and the ones that work so hard to get this job done. There is so much for all of us to be thankful for with Thanksgiving coming up soon.

Love to all of them and to you at Columia Magazine. --Ann Goff

Teddy R. Ray on his heroism: What else was there to do?

Click on headline for story with photo(s)

By Geniece Marcum

Metcalfe Countians have always been proud of their young people who have served in the armed forces. One we are especially proud to call one of our own, is Teddy Ray, from a neighboring farm to my homeplace in the Bellview community of Edmonton, KY. He served in the Vietnam War, and received a wall full of medals for his heroism. One of the medals came after the helicopter he was aboard was shot down during a rescue mission near Hanoi, North Vietnam. The medal was for his gallantry during a firefight, but Teddy shrugs it off, even to this day.

When I met him on the street in Edmonton after he returned home from Vietnam and commended him for his bravery, I got a characteristic Teddy Ray response: "Oh, hell," he said. "What else are you going to do? You're hanging a thousand feet in the air and they're shooting at you. You shoot back."

Site Information: Is it Paid or is It Free?: Fundraiser Meals

Depends on whether Price, menu given - PAID vs. Donations only - FREE

Fundraiser meals announcements are Free if they are for donations only and only a very two or three word description of the meal ("Chili/Sandwich supper," "Ham Breakfast," is given and the submission includes required content (always Street & Number for venue).

Fundraiser meals - and the entire announcement - are Paid if a price and or/full description of the menus given.

Fundraiser meals, fitting either the paid or free descriptions are paid, if a prescribed position or time frame for front page is requested. ("Leave this on the front page" is a dead giveaway that the person submitting is not familiar with CM).

Paid advertising helps event, helps pay cost for CM

Fundraiser meals, whether paid or free, benefit from additional Paid Advertising, which supports the site.
