9th Annual HallowRead, Mon. October 22, 2012 at ACES

The ninth annual "Hallowread" family event for children through 6th grade who must be accompanied by a parent or other adult will be held Monday, October 22, 2012, 4:30-6pmCT at Adair County Elementary School, 870 Indian DR, Columbia, KY. We encourage the kids to wear their costume and join us for pizza, spooky reading and activities, face painting and lots of fun. The Weird Scientists will perform toward the end of the evening. The world-class violinist will perform a concert accompanied by pianist Oezguer Aydin at 7pmCT Friday, November 2, 2012 at Columbia Christian Church, 206 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY.

In addition to offering the region an outstanding cultural experience, the November 2 concert will also leave a lasting impact on the area. Money raised from the concert will support the performance of classical and chamber music in the region.

Most recently the Adair County Garden Club arranged an evening class by special request, "Landscaping with Crepe Myrtles" class for the "ladies" AND the gentlemen of Adair County. The ACGC offers a wide variety of classes every month to its members and the public.

We invite you all to join the Adair County Garden Club on Thursday, October 25, 2012, at 1pmCT or 5:30pmCT for "Landscaping with Crepe Myrtles" presented by Beth Rutherford. KY Human Rights panel passes resolution opposing death penalty

Vote is unanimous

News from the Kentucky Human Rights Commission

LEXINGTON, KY (Thursday, October 18, 2012) - At the Kentucky Commission on Human Rights Board of Commissioners meeting held yesterday in Lexington, Ky., the Commission urged the Kentucky General Assembly to repeal the law that allows the use of the death penalty in murder convictions. The Commission urged Gov. Steven Beshear to sign any such law brought before him by the General Assembly that abolishes the death penalty in Kentucky.

The Commission Board yesterday then unanimously passed a resolution opposing the death penalty. It will be submitted to Gov. Steve Beshear and to each member of the Kentucky General Assembly. LWC Named Champions of Character Five-Star Institution

Adair Co. High School Football hosts South Warren High School

Adair County High School's amazing 2012 football team, now 6-2 on the season - putting the squad's season record in the top dozen or so Kentucky AAA teams - hosts South Warren High School, (8140 Nashville Road, Bowling Green, Warren County, KY), at the Adair County Football Stadium, 623 Indian Drive, Columbia, KY, at 7pmCT, tonight, Friday, October 19, 2012.

South Warren, also a 3A football school, is currently 5-3 on the season.

The game will leave only a meeting with nearest neighbor, Russell County Lakers, at Russell County High School, on the regular season schedule. For the season, Coach Travis Gay's Indians have outscored all opponents, 287-151.
