Where was Michael Dean Campbell? - Mike Campbell the inventor/builder

Jamestown Hill memories: Ralph Roy details where Mike was, in response to question: Wonders about Mike Campbell at time of Jamestown Hill basketball project

By Ralph Roy Waggener

Mike Campbell was a regular at the Waggener house, usually there every day. He grew up living over his father's, E. Campbell's Grocery and Feed Store. And as a youngster was a little on the chubby side later on in life he slimmed down to almost skinny.

Wonders about Mike Campbell at time of Jamestown Hill basketball project

Comments re article 52747 More Paul Harvey of Jamestown Hill Gangs UnitedRuth Ann writes:
Where was Michael Dean Campbell in all of these shenanigans? --Ruth Ann
Thanks, Ruth Ann, for raising that question:. I guess we'd better ask the authorities, Rodney, Sr., Ralph Roy or W. Darrell Young. It worries me, too. Mike Campbell would never have let a boy sit on a limb he was sawing off. Mike would have built a helicopter, put it on auto pilot, and hung from a rope with a chain saw to cut the limb off. He was smart, inventive, and always so prudently cautious and careful. I do believe that he was one of God's chosen people too - a lefty, wasn't he? -EW

More Paul Harvey of Jamestown Hill Gangs United

The rest of the story: How the Great Jamestown Hill Gangs' Union Oak Basketball Court was conceived, engineered, and constructed by two of God's chosen few - in need of a child of a lesser god, unavailable at the time. With moral about how long to sit on a limb one is sawing off.

By Ralph Roy Waggener

A Rodney Thompson's memory of the basketball court was mostly correct. The part he missed was who put up the basketball goal.

Two lefties did this job. Darrell Young was the engineer of this project and I helped.

There were 2 Jamestown Hill Gangs BDY - Before Darrell Young

The way it was, as Rodney L. Thompson, Sr., remembers it. Gangs were separate until the coming of W, Darrell Young to the big house on the once high hill were CVS is now building a drug store. Through dint of WDY personality and basketball diplomacy, the greater Jamestown Hill Gangs merged into dynamic force which lives on in mythic proportions in history today. Also of historical note: The Donnie Harvey Model A or Model T, which served as the Harvey Street Driving School instruction vehicle. Also, Gender Equality was strictly observed in the Further Out Jamestown Hill Gang membership, with inclusion of girl member, Linda Martin.
Inspired by Ralph Roy Waggener's history, The Hill: (Jamestown Hill) as it was commonly known. See also the official history of Jamestown Hill from the Dawn of Time, presented in a paper up at the Lindsey Wilson, 14 years and 4,000 CM articles ago, by Martha Martin: Martha Barnes Martin's Memories of Jamestown Hill September 19, 1998

By Rodney L Thompson, Sr

I enjoyed reading Ralph's story about the Jamestown Hill Gang, but as Paul Harvey would say, "and now for the rest of the story."
