Critical Reviews: Amazing Magic Show and Yo-Yo Exhibition

2011-12-12 - Shelby Co., KY - Photo by Granddad.
Linda and I were able to obtain premier seating on Saturday, December 10, 2011 for the packed performance of Graham's Amazing Magic Show in Shelbyville, KY. General Admission was 25 cents or 50 cents for the high end seats. A tip box faced in front of the stage was profitable which created the need for an encore Yo-Yo Exhibition, by Evan, right, who introduced VIP seating at $1.00. The second photo was taken at a street show at a Shelbyville restaurant. Both shows were excellent, and all grandparents, aunts, uncles, parents, and impressionalbe younger cousins highly recommend seeing the shows if they are ever in the area. -Granddad. Ed Waggener

Wonderful celebration: Lindsey Wilson Golden Alumni Society

Bea Coomer Beard writes:
I had the privilege to participate in the Golden Alumni Society recognition program during the ninety-fourth commencement on Saturday.

This program is a wonderful celebration for those members of the Lindsey Wilson family who are celebrating their 50th college reunion. The Saturday convocation recognized the graduates from the classes of 1950 - 1955. It reunited former classmates and allowed the participants to connect with members of the college staff and students who are completing their degree work for the Fall 2011 semester.

This program provides a valuable service connecting the college with alumni and members of the local community. I would like to acknowledge the efforts of Director of Alumni Relations, Randy Burns, and his assistant, Emily Davis, for organizing a special day and making all of us feel a closer relationship with Lindsey Wilson College.

Regards,
BEA COOMER BEARD
Thanks so much, Bea Coomer Beard, for recognizing this outstanding Lindsey Wilson College program, and its organizers, Randy Burns, and Emily Davis. Written August 13, 2011

We drove out to the crash site to visit the place where the Blakeslee family's world changed. Alan had brought his digital voice recorder to capture the true emotional accounts. He interviewed the Blakeslee family, and then Darrell at the site of the crash. Ironically two low flying planes flew over as he conducted the interviews, and their sound was caught on his recording.

Click on headline for brierf summary of the event plus photo of letter from Kentucky Historical Society and links to a two part series by Chris Bennett

By Chris Bennett

I finally received official word on Saturday that our marker had been accepted. For those of you that had not thought about it, today, Monday the 12th is the 45th anniversary of the crash. I guess it is only fitting that word came almost to the very day of the anniversary of the crash. I have included a copy of the letter I received, and will keep you all posted. I wanted to thank everyone for their help, and encouraging comments. I guess the next big thing is the dedication date, and all the planning that goes with it....

If any one has questions or comments please contact me!

I hope every one is able to enjoy the holidays with their loved ones,

Merry Christmas!

Thank You
