Well-behaved Black Chow available to good home

No longer available. New home has been found

This just in, a great opportunity to get a wonderful pet and ease the worries of owner who's moving to assisted living home:
Wonderful Dog needs new home: Black Chow, approximately 8 years old to give away to a very, very, good home. He's been an inside dog since he was a puppy. Well behaved, not at all mean, but because he is a Chow people are cautious with him because his bark sounds mean; but he is only letting his owner know someone is outside. Owner will be moving into an assisted living facility and won't be able to care for him. This Black Chow is her child and she loves him like a child, so if you can't give him the love and attention he is used to and deserves, or if you are not able to let him in out of bad weather, he is used to heat and air, he is not the dog for you. But if he sounds like he is, call (270) 384-9910 or (270) 384-2850

Mr. Austin Gilpin: Finest example of a Christian

'He and brother Lawrence led singings far and wide; They were treated as quasi rock stars when they showed up at these functions.' BJF
Comments re article 40808: Antioch School Basketball photo brings back memories

By Billy Joe Fudge
I can still see Austin Gilpin's Great-grandfather, Mr. Austin Gilpin with his long sleeved work shirt buttoned tightly around his neck, big straw hat, and brown Jersey gloves helping us haul in hay in the summertime.

The long sleeved shirt however, was not just for hauling in hay. Most of the other men of that generation in the Flatwoods/Sparksville/Breeding Community wore them religiously both winter and summer.

Node Store reminds writer of her store, at Sulphur Well

Professor Lane's comment takes writer back to memories of "Don't Slam That Door!" - sweet music from her childhood and and reminiscences of tractor and horseback runs to the store for missing ingredients for the next meal

By Linda Waggener

I have to thank Gary Lane so much for sharing memories of the Node community of Metcalfe County, KY!

My Mom also thought Ione Stapp was a wonderful person. While the little Node store was nearest his home, the Sulphur Well store was nearer to the Marcum place.

Countdown: 5 days to Adair Jaycees 20th Radio Auction

Need may be as great as ever

A Countdown has been added this morning, Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, in the CM Special News, Ads feature for the Adair County Jaycees' 20th Radio Auction to raise money for Christmas gifts for needy families. This year, both WHVE and WAIN are participating in the event, which raised $11,000 in 2009. An online list, which will be updated as new items are added, will be included soon.
