Poetry by Robert Stone, NO UNSHOOTING

No unshooting
-a sonnet for the misunderstood
One can't unshoot the flesh decaying fast.
Though eye still living sees a slower pace,
the dying eye will strive to hold the past
and dust and ashes memories erase.

One can't unsay the words with painful taunts.
Though mouth unthoughtful speeds its fear,
the muted mouth is forced to baleful jaunts
and only hopeless future paths appear.

One can't unthink the thoughts that mold our life.
Though heart unbridled rides untested love,
the sober heart will seize a palette knife
and choose new hues to paint the worth thereof.

One can in others and in self find good.
but pride ignores the weak misunderstood.

- Robert Stone, 14 November 2010
I don't usually explain the origin of my poems but I decided to say a few words about this one. I was in The Bookstore in Horse Cave, KY, Saturday morning and one of the Wise Men at The Round Table said, "You can't unshoot a guy." I was in Bowling Green last Monday night to see "Dog Sees God," a play about teenage bullying and suicide. -Robert Stone

Not so good news: Record day in Adair Court?

Expect more traffic today downtown in Columbia, KY, with what may be a record docket in Adair Co., KY, District Court. There are 221 cases on the District Court docket, one case in Circuit Court.

Fortunately for Downtown commerce, most of the parking should be away from the Square now that the Adair County Judicial Center is open, but motorists might anticipate heavier traffic today. More details in CM EVENTS
