Wisdom of Barney Fife invoked on snake pictures

Where to draw the line becomes issue, writer says
About: Chorus of scaredy cats about snakes grows

Hey Ed,

Phobias and squeamishness's of all sorts abound. If CM posts warning labels before snake pictures and a reader with an unrealistic fear of bunnies or kittens or puppies comes forward, what then? With all due respect to the fearful among us, I think you as Editor of CM should in the immortal and wisdomic words of Barney Fife, "Nip it in the bud".

Loud, terrified screams from close encounter of serpent kind

Health Dept. employee throws support to snake picture warning faction
About: Chorus of scaredy cats growing

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:
BR>Sorry, Ed, but I have to join the movement for some sort of warning for snake pictures. If you were out and about anywhere in Columbia a few Monday mornings ago and heard a loud scream, that would have been me as I encountered a snake at the bottom of the steps to the side employee entrance here at the Health Dept.

In the News a century ago today

By "Jim

With the election close at hand, the October 27, 1909 edition of the Adair County News was, as my mother was wont to say, "skase, mighty skase" on news and long on political posturing. The Irvin's Store correspondent, in a newsletter written a few days earlier, had wryly observed, "Politics are warming up in these parts and by next week will be very warm." When this edition of the News hit the presses, the political pot was a-bilin' all over the paper.

In accepting the award, Dr. Aaron told the audience, "To paraphrase the famous German Physician Rudolph Virchow, 'we doctors are also citizens; we have the opportunity to observe and perhaps a responsibility to mitigate the effects of poverty; we should be natural advocates of the poor - we should be there for indigent patients.'"

Chorus of scaredy cats about snakes- grows

Hamilton and Marcum Metcalfe women, Mitzi Bault, and now, this anonymous lady, are virtually singing bars of Alice's Restaurant with Snake Protest lyrics. Are we being confronted by a Movement? Are they right? Should Snake Picture Warning Labels be on CM pictures?

Ed:

Here I was enjoying my "catch up" time, gandering at the beautiful pics on CM and BAM what do I see? A nasty, icky, not to mention gross, snake. Ed, I was scared so badly I'm sure I will have a restless night of sleep and will probably dream of them. For us gals that can't stand those critters, please take care to put in bold red print at the top of the page "GROSS PIC OF YUCKY CRITTER TO FOLLOW." Thank you so much. LOL.

Name of writer, important CM advertiser Patricia Willis, owner of the Dairy Dip, 114 Jamestown ST, Columbia, KY withheld to protect major account. Lawrence's (Warning) garage snake, as well as (Warning) Melissa's pet given her by her son Kris, were kind of cute. -EW
