Scenic Adair Co., KY: Fog on Sulphur Springs Road

2009-05-10 - Near Clay Ridge, KY - Photo By Amy Mitchum.
"It is such a beautiful Mother's Day morning!" Amy Mitchum wrote Mother's Day, May 10, 2009. "When I got up the fog was just gorgeous with the sun shining through. I went out and took this shot from my front yard on Sulphur Springs Road...I just had to share! The fog didn't last long so I thought you might want to share this with all who may have missed it!"

Tucker's Station now has shiny new Address Marker

EMS can now find 1535 Bull Run Road fast! Armitages offer $5.00 coupon to her neighbors on Bull Run Road until May 24, 2009, to spend at Tucker's Station garden store for anyone buying a new Address Marker

by Barbara Armitage

Wayne loves to do anything that could possibly involve a power tool so it was easy to get him to attach our new address sign to the mail box out at Tucker's Station.

We think that spending $10.00 on something that could potentially save a life is a great deal. As I mentioned Wayne loves to play with power tools and the bigger the better.

A grateful Mother's Day tribute to Queen of Mothers

To Katherine Lepiarczyk

Everyone's Mother should be honored especially for Mother's Day. My Mother, Mrs. Gerhard Lepiarczyk, whom I endearingly call Lady Katherine, deserves to be treated like a Queen on Mother's Day. My Mother is precious to me. Lady Katherine has often reminded me to give roses while people are living. Throughout my life I have always known how richly blessed I am to be a Gift from God presented to my Mother. So, Mother, this tribute rose is for you!

My Mother is a native of Adair County and has lived in Jefferson County for most of her life. Lady Katherine was born and grew up in the Concord community near Garlin. Katherine Louise Grider Lepiarczyk is the Queen of the Kentucky Lepiarczyk family. After living in Jefferson County for many years, people in Louisville yet ask Mother where she is from. In her enchanting Adair County accent, she proclaims, "I am from Adair County; and I'm proud of it"! Mother Dearest, I am proud of you. I hope and pray you enjoy many more happy Mother's Days because you are the Queen of Mothers for me, Karen, and David.

"You were Daddy's Garlin Darlin' from way back when; now you're the Mother of three of Papa Daniel and Mother Grider's nine grandchildren"...

I Love You, Mom; and Happy Mother's Day 2009! May God bless our Lepiarczyk family always.

Your devoted son, with love always,
s/Erwin Heinrich Lepiarczyk II

Carol Perkins: Mother's Day and Pity Parties

Mother's Day: 'When Guy and I go out to eat on Mother's Day and I see adult children taking their mother out to eat, I want to go over and eat with them. Instead, I sit over my pizza and listen to the laughter surrounding me and go home to an empty house with Fluffy nipping at my heels,' Carol Perkins writes on this joyous day for homage to mommas.

Mother's Day and Pity Parties

I will confess. You will find this very unbecoming of me and I am truly sorry, but I must get this off my chest. I know I am not alone in this hostility, so I am speaking for those who feel as I do. Here goes; I'm going to say it. I absolutely loathe Mother's Day. Hate it, hate it, hate it. I feel guilty for saying this because I am grateful to have my own mother and I hope to make her feel special on this day, but I am a mother too. I do not feel anything on this day but pity...for myself. Is this not terrible of me?

Good Ol' Homemade Chicken and Noodles

Both my mom and my wife shared one expertise; both were experts at making home-made noodles but in very different ways. In all my years of living, I never saw a store-bought package of egg-noodles in a Hinman pantry. Skinners or American Beauty would have gone bankrupt if they depended on the Hinmans keeping them in the noodle business.
