Husky, Margo, is missing from Greenhills home

Lost huskie. She is 7 months old black with gray /white under coat. She has two blue eyes and a recent scar on her belly from being spayed. She was wearing a yellow nylon collar. She got out of the gate in the Greenhills area on the day of the wind storm when the gate was blown open. Her name is Margo and we miss her very much. it is heartbreaking to wonder is she is okay. Kay Haupt enthralled readers with the pictures of her "Scary Tree" at the top of Traylor Hill on Green Briar Road, on January 24. Only 19 days later, on February 12, she sent the photo on the right, captioned "A sad day for me." The scary tree is gone, a victim of the recent storms.

Obituary: Lois G. Bryant, 92

Mrs. Bryant was a member of a respected Adair County family. She was a homemaker and a member of the Freedom Church of God

Lois G. Bryant, 92 formerly of Adair County KY, passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at 7:45amCT. at Summerhill Elderliving Home & Care in Perry, GA.

The funeral service Saturday February 14, 2009, at 2 :00pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Rev. Landon Hadley the officiating clergy.Interment will be in Freedom Cemetery. Visitation will be after 1:00pmCT, Saturday, February 14, 2009 at the funeral home.

ACHS mid 9-week progress reports go out today

Adair County High School has given all students mid-nine week progress reports today. Parents, please ask your children to see their reports which have their current grades. This is not a report card. The end of the nine weeks will be March 6 and report cards will be printed then. After school tutoring is available. The Columbia Planning and Zoning Commission took just 7 minutes to review unanimously approve the site plan for the new Columbia Goodwill Industries store in Holladay Place last night.

P & Z Commission Chairman Joe Flowers and members Lloyd French, George Kolbenschlag, and Sue Stivers voted to give the quick go ahead at the well attended 6:00pm meeting, Thursday, February 12, 2009. The panel included all members except Anissa Radford.

Semi driver injured in collision north of Tompkinsville, KY

Collision occurred at 2:07PMCT, Thursday, February 12, 2009 on KY 163, seven miles north of Tompkinsville, KY. Jack Q. Bottern, age 30, Fort Wayne, Indiana was operating a 2004 Freightliner, was traveling south on KY 163, left the right edge of the roadway, lost control and struck a culvert, coming to final rest in a tree line. He was transported to Monroe County Medical Center by Monroe Co EMS. He was treated and released.

Monroe Co Sheriff's Department assisted at the scene.
