COLUMBIA, KY - Three Lindsey Wilson College physical education and health students recently presented papers about two current topics in the profession of physical education.

Adair County native Adam Womack was joined by classmates Jeramy Ezell and Brandon Tucker last week at the annual meeting of the Kentucky Association of Health, Physical Education Recreation and Dance. The three presented their research at KAHPERD's state convention, held in Louisville.

Flu clinic at AC Health Dept. on Oct. 30, 2008

A walk-in flu vaccine clinic will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2008, at the Adair County Health Department at 801 Westlake Drive, Columbia, KY. Clinic hours will be from 3:00pm to 6:00pmCT with no appointment needed.

Children's flu vaccine is now available, as well as the FluMist inhaled vaccine, which is for children and adults up to age 49. Everyone is encouraged to receive their annual flu vaccine at this time, especially high risk patients and their household contacts and caretakers.

LWC Soccer stadium to honor legacy of late Walter S. Reuling

Ceremony will take place Wednesday, October 29, 2008

Former Lindsey Wilson College President Walter S. Reuling had two passions when he served at the college - helping students realize their dreams of earning a college degree and "the beautiful game" of soccer.

And on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, Lindsey Wilson will honor Reuling's legacy when the soccer stadium is named in his honor.

Pickett's Chapel UMC help keep Portland clean

Pickett's Chapel UMC is located in the Portland community of Adair County. The team consisted of a total of 36 individuals, including toddlers aged 1,2,4 and 5 years, who all cleaned up the roadway along Portland Road (Hwy 1702) beginning at the Green county line and traveling 4 miles across to Milltown Road (Hwy 768).

Campbellsvillian announces for President--in 2036

Influence of fellow Kentuckian Abraham Lincoln a factor

There will be a visit by "President" Abraham Lincoln during school assembly. The president will present a basket of Lincoln-related memorabilia to fourth-grader Zack Settle, winner of a monthly prize drawing for the Kentucky Lincoln Heritage Trail Passport Program.

Nine-year-old Zack is a huge Lincoln fan and presidential history buff who can name all the presidents, spout presidential trivia and also boast of having visited the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library & Museum in Springfield, Illinois. He has already announced to his family and friends that he will be seeking a presidential bid in 2036.

3rd Meeting: Beef herd management shortcourse
In response to the dramatic rise of input costs of producing and raising beef cattle. The Adair, Green, and Taylor County Cooperative Extension Service will be hosting a Beef Management Shortcourse Title "Managing the Beef Herd During High Production Costs." A total of three sessions will be held at 5:30pmCT each evening on October 9, 16, and 23, 2008, focusing on profitability outlooks for cow-calf and back grounding operations, hay productions costs, USDA Risk Management Program, marketing, alternative winter feeding, and formulating least cost rations.
