Pickett's Chapel UMC help keep Portland clean With one photo; below, list of participants in 2008 Adair PRIDE Fall cleanup.By Sandy Coffey Pickett's Chapel UMC is located in the Portland community of Adair County. The team consisted of a total of 36 individuals, including toddlers aged 1,2,4 and 5 years, who all cleaned up the roadway along Portland Road (Hwy 1702) beginning at the Green county line and traveling 4 miles across to Milltown Road (Hwy 768). The group collected 45 bags of garbage, 5 bags of aluminum cans, 2 buckets, 1 tire, small dead cedar trees, and some scrap metal. This cleanup was the third for the church group, and the children are learning valuable lessons of being a servant for the community in God's name and becoming conscious about protecting God's creation on a daily basis for us to enjoy. Funds raised from the litter pickup will benefit the church's Wednesday night youth program known as "The King's Kids". Taking part in the cleanup were: Jo Greene, Kayden Greene, Brady Cowan, MaKayla Smith, Briley Taylor, Nancy Taylor, Lindsey Young, Wesley Young, Angie Smith and Aaron Smith. Jera Kessler, Allison Buris, Alexis Kessler, Madison Bell, Hailey Taylor, Andrew Coffey, and Carrie Ann Smith. Chey Trumbo, Tammy Trumbo, Natalie Darnell, Lena Miller holding Emylou Miller, Megan Trumbo, Kailey Young, Marcus Alderson, Robert Smith and Ann Smith.
