Sondra Noe, 62, Edmonton, KY, died Monday, Octobe 20, 2008, at Williamson Medical Center in Franklin, TN, after a 10 year battle with multiple sclerosis.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pmCT, Thursday, October 23, 2008, at the Edmonton Worship Center, with burial in the Edmonton Cemetery.

UMC Bishop Lindsey Davis visits Adair County

With two photos

Bishop Lindsey Davis of The United Methodist Church Louisville Area Conference is in Adair County on Tuesday, October 21, 2008, to meet with members of the Columbia District and visit Lindsey Wilson College, which is affiliated with The United Methodist Church.

Bishop Davis spent the morning at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2118 Campbellsville Road, where he met with more than three dozen United Methodist ministers and lay people of the churchs Columbia District.

The Campbellsville Portraits: Many photos in the exhibit from a 1972 walk through Campbellsville, and include photographs of Mark Chandler, Bill Chandler, Carolyn Ogden, Jim Winn, Helen Kessler, Wally Humphress, Bobby Kirtley, Bruce Hayes and the late Everette Lee, Lawrence James and Jim Perkins and others. Public is invited to help with identification. Collection will be donated to Taylor County Historical Society after exhibit

Campbellsville University will host a photography exhibit featuring Henry Cowherd's Campbellsville by the late Henry Cowherd, presented by Keith Shapiro, professor of photography at Pennsylvania State University, who will also show his A Portrait of Henry in the exhibit.

The exhibit will be on display at the Campbellsville University Art Gallery across from the Gosser Fine Arts Building from October 27 to November 14, 2008. The opening reception will be on Monday, Oct. 27, from 7:00pmET/6:00pmCT to 8:30pmET/6:00pmET.

The public is invited to the reception and exhibit.

Mrs. Kim Downs' First Graders at CWC visited the Adair Co. Arboretum for a pumpkin patch field trip. Students enjoyed face painting, square dancing, games, stories, hay maze, and agriculture displays. Special thanks to Debbie Bradshaw (CWC Teacher), Sheila Willis (ACHS Teacher), ACHS Students, ACHS Clubs, and lots of community volunteers and donations.

Governor Beshear to announce KY 61 project in Edmonton

An Adair County group, led by Gov. Beshear's local contact, former Judge Richard L. Walker; County Judge Executive Ann Melton, and Mayor Pat Bell will travel to Edmonton today, Tuesday, October 21, 2008, for the 2:30pmCT Meet and Greet event hosted by Metcalfe Couty Judge Executive Greg Wilson.

The Governor is expected to make the formal announcement of the start of construction on KY 61 South from the Louie B. Nunn Parkway to Sparksville, KY.

The group plans to thank Gov. Beshear for reactivating the KY 61 project from the LBN Parkway to Sparksville, KY. The public is invited to attend.

Christopher Sergel's To Kill A Mockingbird opened at Kentucky Repertory Theatre on the first Friday in October. When I left the theatre and returned to The Bookstore, I was asked how was it. Wonderful, I said. The reply was that I had never said anything so positive and upbeat before.

So that is the short review. Director Evelyn Blythe has focused on the essentials and let the minor details go their own ways.

Obituary: Edwin Russell Cundiff, 78

Mr. Cundiff began a distinguished career in broadcast and government in Columbia. He was general manager of WAIN for 23 years and was a leader in civic and Democratic political affairs

Adair County native Edwin "Ed" R. Cundiff, age 78, of Shepherdsville, KY formerly of Hodgenville, KY,passed away Saturday, October 18, 2008, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00pmCT, Tuesday, October 21, 2008, at the Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia, KY with the Rev. Dewey Keys and Gary Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Cane Valley Cemetery in Adair County, KY.

KSP Post 15 area suffers 4 fatalities in one week

State wide total is 13; death in Adair, triple fatality in Clinton make local area deadliest in state during week of October 13-19, 2008

Preliminary statistics* indicate that 13 people, four of them in the Columbia Kentucky State Police Post 15 area, died in 11 separate crashes on Kentucky roadways from Monday, October 13 through Sunday, October 19, 2008.

Eleven of the fatalities involved motor vehicles and seven of those victims were not wearing seat belts. Motor vehicle crashes occurred in Adair, Bracken, Floyd, Hardin, Larue, Lawrence, Pulaski, and Trigg counties. The suspected use of alcohol was a factor in one of these crashes.

Each episode - which is about eight minutes long - features a member of the Lindsey Wilson faculty talking about their area of expertise or a current topic related to their area of expertise.

KY's jobless rate increases to 6.8% in September

FRANKFORT, KY (Oct. 20, 2008) -- Kentucky's seasonally adjusted preliminary unemployment rate for September 2008 rose to 7.1 percent from August 2008's revised 6.8 percent, according to the Office of Employment and Training (OET), an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet. September 2007's jobless rate was 5.4 percent.

The U.S. seasonally adjusted jobless rate stayed at 6.1 percent from August 2008 to September 2008, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
