Feedback: Thing that keeps Adair County special is people

About: Lost band momTo ColumbiaMagazine.com:

RESPONSE TO LOST BAND MOM - What a title! Ha!

Thank you so much, Shamarie - it was my pleasure and I'm glad I could help.

Growing up in a small town is like having a whole bunch of relatives that you don't often see, but when you do, there is a warm sense of familiarity that dulls the loneliness one sometimes feels when he has moved away.

There are many great things about Adair County that I miss, like the beautiful farmland and countrysides; however, the thing that keeps Adair County special in my heart is the people.

Thank you so much for the wonderful article!

Lost band mom is rescued on the Gene Snyder

You never know who will be there to help you but they are probably from Adair County! Damsel in confusion is rescued by surprising Good Samaritan

By Shamarie Claiborne

Life never ceases to amaze me. This past weekend a large number of Adair citizens traveled to Eastern High School in Louisville for the Band Contest. I was among those numbers. Now, anyone who knows me well can testify to the fact that I am a resourceful individual and that I do not always follow the pack.

Yet, I should have learned in my 40 years on this planet that following the pack is not always a bad thing, especially when you don't know where you are going. I forgot that Saturday. Low and behold I looked up and could find no sign of the Adair Convoy.

About: Photo: LWC 2008 Malvina Farkle Day Helping at GRAS

I am missing the photos from GRAS of the animals they have ready for adoption. There hasn't been one for awhile. Two weeks?

Was wondering why they have slacked of in letting the public know what is available.

A good opportunity to "showcase" the animals needing a home is being missed.

s/Mary Dabney

Thanks. There is a new kitten photo up today. We post all the photos submitted by Green River Animal Shelter. It is heart wrenching to see the number of animals which have to be euthanized, despite the good record at G.R.A.S. However, we do understand how busy they are. We'll talk to the powers that be to see how more can be posted on CM. Maybe a volunteer photographer could help. Thanks again, for your input. -EW

Letter: Swarm of honey bees being removedfrom Stivers House

With one photo

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

This past Sunday afternoon I happened to see David Davis, "bee master," and husband of Melody Davis at Lindsey Wilson College, working to remove a colony of bees that set up house keeping, and honey making, in a column of the Sue Cravens Stivers Alumni House at Lindsey Wilson College.

s/Phil Hanna

Thanks. Good to know that Columbia has a man with this expertise who could move the valuable creatures to a more suitable location--and that we still have honeybees around.
