Feedback: Reclaiming Burkesville Street a wonderful plan

About: Thrilled that Reclaiming Burkesville Street still alive

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

This sounds like a wonderful plan and I hope it comes to fruition. I agree that this project comes under the auspices of the state. However, maintaining a safe thoroughfare is the responsibility of the city and, unfortunately, that is not being done.

Thanks to Community, from The Hingles

PSALMS 36:1-2: "Oh give Thanks to the Lord for He is good , For His lovingkindness is everlasting. Give Thanks to the God of gods. For His loving kindness is everlasting."
Our family would like to say "Thank You, Thank You, Thank You."

How blessed we are to have people like you all!

Thank you to all the rescue teams, all the people who helped find Josh at the Lake, all the support from family, friends, and people we didn't even know that offered their homes, cars, brought food, drinks, and gave all their love!

Thank You for all those that sent food and relieved us of the task of cooking and feeding so many people.

Then to all the friends, family, and those we don't know that through out the week offered up prayers to heaven with us.

Thank You to Stotts, Phelps, McQueary Funeral Home that had compassion on us and allowed us to frequent the funeral home all during the week.

Thank You to all who sent cards, gifts, and donations. I want to write you all, but I know I don't! have all the names.

Thank You, if I have missed you.

Finally, the support and love shown at the wake and funeral was overwhelming.

God is So Good...We asked God to give us Josh back, and He did not grant our request, but He (God) has raised up a standard in our hearts that is priceless.

We will never be the same.

My request now is God would continue to enlarge our hearts and cause a unity in our spirits and we would be able to understand all that God has prepared for those of us who love Him.

Maranatha (Come Lord Jesus). In Jesus Mighty Name,

s/The Hingle Family

Reclaiming Burkesville ST: Project for Public Properties ideas

There are certain qualities which make a great street. Burkesville Street already has many of them. Alice Faye Wheeler found a great list that the Project for Public Properties has developed which can be a great aid to visualizing what Columbia's broad Burkesville Street boulevard could look like, with a little imagination and a lot of hard work.

The link below expands on the these qualities: Attractions and Destinations, identity and Image, Active Edge Uses, Amenities, Management, Seasonal Strategies, Diverse User Groups; Traffic, Transit, and Pedestrian, Blending of Uses and Modes, and Protects Neighborhoods.

Important meeting to save Pinewood CC is tonight!

There is a meeting scheduled for Tuesday night, August 12, 2008 at 7:00pm at Pinewood Country Club with this goal: To Save Our Club. We ask that all Adair County citizens who understand the value the club is to our community to come out and support us in this meeting. Several local business men and women have heard about this and are concerned that Pinewood is in need of the communities help. As business people understand, the country club is a very important asset to Columbia/Adair Country, for recreational purposes, for our Adair County student and Lindsey Wilson Collegiate golfers, as well as being a big asset for economic development. We ask that you come support us at this meeting. Thank You. -ERIC GOODIN

Feedback: Burning premium gas for more MPG does not work

To ColumbiaMagazine.com
Burning premium gas for more mileage does not work. In addition it will ruin your catalytic converter. At 20 price difference just to be a wise economic choice it would only take 1.5 miles to be am improvment in the economy of the car.

    Doug Mullins withdraws his candidacy
    for 51st District Representative

    POLITICS

Doug Mullins has announced that he will withdraw his candidacy for state representative for the 51st district which includes Taylor and Adair Counties. Mullins has been diagnosed with lung cancer, the treatment for which will require a combination of radiation and chemotherapy.

The debilitating effects of the illness and the treatment will make it impossible for him to run an effective campaign and if elected, to serve effectively during the first year of the term, he said.

Mullins says he feels that it would be unfair to the citizens of Taylor and Adair counties to be asked to elect a candidate who will not be able to carry out the duties of the office. He expresses his thanks and appreciation to all the people who have contributed their time and money to his campaign.

Meeting to Save Pinewood Country Club Tues., August 12, 2008
Thank You. -ERIC GOODIN | (ID:2510, Comment)
