Doug Mullins withdraws his candidacy
for 51st District Representative

POLITICS

Doug Mullins has announced that he will withdraw his candidacy for state representative for the 51st district which includes Taylor and Adair Counties. Mullins has been diagnosed with lung cancer, the treatment for which will require a combination of radiation and chemotherapy.

The debilitating effects of the illness and the treatment will make it impossible for him to run an effective campaign and if elected, to serve effectively during the first year of the term, he said.

Mullins says he feels that it would be unfair to the citizens of Taylor and Adair counties to be asked to elect a candidate who will not be able to carry out the duties of the office. He expresses his thanks and appreciation to all the people who have contributed their time and money to his campaign.
