Local schools have the chance to host an environmental education specialist each month during the next school year. If Adair County joins the PRIDE Environmental Education Outreach Program, a PRIDE liaison will visit the county's elementary schools to lead fun, educational lessons about the environment.

The PRIDE liaison brings hands-on activities that prepare students for state science tests and life-long environmental stewardship. Topics include energy, botany, water quality and solid waste. The program serves 3rd through 5th grade classes, with an emphasis on 4th graders who are tested on science in the state's annual CATS testing.

Dr. Morrison appointed visiting professor at U. Salamanca

Columbia native Dr. Robert Morrison has received a prestigious academic appointment as visiting professor at the University of Salamanca in Spain.

The University of Salamanca, founded in 1218, similar to its contemporaries Oxford and Cambridge, is one of the World's oldest universities and counts legendary explorer Hernan Cortez as one of its alumni.

King Ferdinand required Christopher Columbus to argue his case that the World was round before the faculty of Salamanca.

Dr. Morrison will be teaching management and international business. He is a faculty member at the University of Texas Pan American.

Mink sighting barely west of town of Glens Fork, KY

Follow up to letter, "KY 900 sighting of mink-like creature"
Animals were in front of the Stick Harmon place

Her detailed account below brings the event into focus. Most Adair Countians know the Stick Harmon place, the pretty farm along the creek near Glens Fork. It's on the south side of KY 900, the scenic road through some gorgeous Adair County countryside to Simpson Ridge and beyond to Hadley Valley and finally Cundiff on Melson Ridge.

    She wrote:
Sue Henningsen and I were traveling on 900 headed towards 55 intersection. We were about a mile from the intersection.
