Voting in primary not requisite for voting in general election

Secretary Trey Grayson says false rumor is circulating

Special Columbiamagazine.com story
From Commonwealth News Center

(Frankfort, KY) The State Board of Elections has received a number of inquiries about a rumor circulating around the Commonwealth stating that voters must have voted in the primary election to be eligible to vote in the general election. Secretary of State Trey Grayson wanted to address those rumors via the following statement:"According to the number and location of many calls, there appears to be a coordinated effort to spread misinformation in today's election. If a citizen is a legitimately registered voter, his or her participation in the primary election will not affect his or her eligibility to participate in the general election. While I encourage every citizen to vote today, it is inappropriate for people to spread these falsehoods."

McConnell top vote getter, and margin is 6.7 to 1. Hillary total second highest of night, higher than John McCain. She outpolls Obama 5.4 to 1 here. Winners in Adair County: John McCain, Mitch McConnell, Asa Swan, Hillary Clinton, Bruce Lunsford; Carney wins district wide after Taylor vote included. Campbellsville goes wet. Greensburg alcoholic beverage vote fails
    Watch for precinct details

    By Ed Waggener

In the most closely watched race, John "Bam" Carney won the Republican nomination for 51st District Representative, in the balloting on May 20, 2008. But in Adair County, a very strong showing in absentee voting for Asa James Swan, 98-23, and a slightly better than even vote in the 16 Adair County precincts, gave Swan the winner in Adair County.

However, Swan's margin of 82 votes in Adair County was not strong enough to overcome the 376 vote margin Carney received in Taylor County.

Bam Carney carried 7 Adair County precincts; Swan carried 8. The two tied in Cane Valley-Holmes, where the vote was 49 Carney, 49 Swan, 44 Russell Montgomery. Montgomery, the former Adair Countian , former Democrat turned Republican, ran third in Adair County.

Letter: East 80 Bridge 5 months later and still not done

    Editor, ColumbiaMagazine.com:

If my memory is correct the contractor for the East 80 Bridge had 90 days to finish this new bridge. These days excluded the months December, Janurary, and Feburary since the state feels this months aren't warm enough to work in. It has been 5 months and the bridge still isn't done.

"What I don''t understand is why the state allowed the demolition of the bridge during these months, since they knew it was an important artery of our community?" quote from my fathers post before. He is right, the state knew the demolition/construction of the bridge would halt during these months?
