Friday fire destroys home at 55 Snowcrest Drive

The Adair County Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 3:08pmCT on Friday, April 11, 2008, to 55 Snowcrest Drive, Columbia, KY, to a home owned by Randy Carter.

According to the owner, when he returned home, he noticed smoke from the roof.

This house at 55 Snowcrest Drive just east of Columbia in the Horton Estates, was engulfed in flames when Adair County firemen arrived after receiving a call at 3:08CT. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Firemen believe it may have been started by a clothes dryer.

Troopers from KSP Post 15 helping Clinton storm search

Troopers from the Kentucky State Police Post 15, are assisting local law enforcement agencies by conducting house to house searches looking for anyone who may have been injured by the recetn storm that passed through the Clinton County area. Several homes and outbuildings were damaged.

At least two people were treated at the Clinton County Hospital due to minor injuries.

Most of the damage was centered seven east of Albany off KY 90.

The telephone lines to the Local 911 Dispatch in Albany are currently down. If anyone needs assistance they should contact Kentucky State Police in Columbia, KY, at (270) 384-4796 or 1-800-222-5555.

Driver loses control of VW, leaves road, strikes tree

A one vehicle injury collision occurred at 3:30pm on Friday, April 11, 2008, on KY 55, one mile north of Springfield, KY.

Roger L. Case, 58, Perryville, KY, was operating a 1999 Volkswagen, southbound on Bloomfield RD southbound, on Bloomfield Road, and lost control, left the roadway, and struck a tree.

Case was transported by EMS to Springview Hospital in Lebanon, KY, and then flown to the University of Louisville.

Hospital Board Special Called Meeting is Tues., April 15, 2008

LEGAL NOTICE
The Adair County Hospital District Board of Trustees will have a special called meeting on Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at 6:30 p.m. to discuss and select a Construction Manager/General Contractor for the hospital's new construction/renovation project. The meeting will be in the hospital Board Room.

Chester R. Goodin, 84, dies in Indianapolis

COLUMBIAMAGAZINE.COM OBITUARIES

Mr. Goodin was a native of Adair County. He was a WWII veteran with many medals and commendations, a retired postal worker, and a member of the Parc-Way Assembly of God. Funeral and burial will be in Indianapolis.

Chester R. Goodin, 84, Indianapolis, IN, formerly of Adair County, KY, died peacefully Thursday morning, April 10, 2008, at St. Francis Hospital.

He was born in March 1924, to Elmer and Lottie Goodin in Adair County, KY. He was the beloved husband of Nora Goodin for 63 years.

Gas Price Drumbeat: Saved on gas in Bowling Green

To ColumbiaMagazine.com

In Bowling Green yesterday for an appointment, I found gas prices at $3.19 all over town, even at Speedway. I was able to squeeze 15 gallon into my tank and came home happy having saved $2.40.

Adair Co. Library Bd. meeting re-scheduled for April 21, 2008

The Adair County Public Library Board meeting for April 2008 has been changed from the regular meeting date on April 14, 2008, to April 21, 2008 at 12:05pmCT at the library.
The regular board meeting is each each 2nd Monday at noon CT, at the library. Board Members: Mary Knight, President; Nancy Ballou, Vice-President; Bonnie Rogers,Treasurer; Bobbie Coomer, Secretary; Carla Pyles, Member.

New shelter being built at Roadside Park on 55 South

The Chamber of Commerce is adding another covered shelter to the Roadside Park on 55 South in Columbia, KY.

The additional shelter was needed because of the heavy use of the park for family gatherings, reunions, school and church outings, and other activities.

The City Council of Columbia, KY, will hold a Special Called Meeting on Monday, April 14, 2008, at 2:00pmCT in City Hall.The following items will be considered:
  1. Approve the recomendation from Bell Engineering to accept the low bid from Garrison Construction for the Sewer Line Project in Greenhills Subdivision and Parrott Avenue
  2. 2nd Reading Ordinance No. 110.32 (Annexation 2751 Campbellsville Road)

Hollis F. Jasper, 89, Russell Spring, KY

Remembering Dora Helen Bennett Thompson

Ma Helen will be greatly missed and always loved!! The Bennett Family Gospel Singers lost one of their own yesterday, Helen Thompson. She will be missed by many! Jesus has a new Angel with him now.

I can see her now, beside Jesus strumming her mandelin and singing "I'm a Winner Either Way."

The meeting was moved to Monday night to accommodate health insurance bidders. The regular meeing would otherwise have been on Tuesday, April 8, 2008.     Driver drops off shoulder, overcorrects, in Lebanon accident

    POLICE REPORTS

    The driver in a single vehicle accident on Old Calvary Road was taken to Springview Hospital in Lebanon following a crash on Thursday, April 10, 2008, at 7:41pmET.

    Amanda Cambron, 22, Lebanon, KY, was traveling west om a 2007 Honda, toward Campbellsville, KY on Old Calvary Road.

    Semi truck driver injured in accident near Bugtussle

    POLICE REPORTS

    The drivers of two semi trucks lost control and ran off the roadway when on of them tried to pass the other on KY 87, resulting in injuries to the driver of the truck being overtaken, who was flown to Nashville, for treatment

    Driver injured in single vehicle Spurlington Road accident

    POLICE REPORTS

    A Campbellsville driver, Robin Raynor, 50, was treated at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville, KY, and later transferred to UL Hospital, Louisville, KY, following a single vehicle accident on Thursday, April 10, at 9:08pm.

    Raynor was travelling east on Spurlington Road, in a 1998 Oldsmobile, and struck a guardrail.

    Trooper David Smith of Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY, investigated the accident.

    Wind causes motorcycle injury accident

    POLICE REPORTS

    A motorcycle accident occurred at 3:04pm, on Thursday, April 10, 2008, on US 68, the Danville Highway, in Marion County, resulting in injury to the rider.

    James Brady, Lebanon, KY was traveling westbound on US 68 when a large gust of wind caused the operator to lose control. The motorcycle skidded across the roadway and off it.
