Chester R. Goodin, 84, dies in Indianapolis

Mr. Goodin was a native of Adair County. He was a WWII veteran with many medals and commendations, a retired postal worker, and a member of the Parc-Way Assembly of God. Funeral and burial will be in Indianapolis.

Chester R. Goodin, 84, Indianapolis, IN, formerly of Adair County, KY, died peacefully Thursday morning, April 10, 2008, at St. Francis Hospital.

He was born in March 1924, to Elmer and Lottie Goodin in Adair County, KY. He was the beloved husband of Nora Goodin for 63 years.



He is survived by the following:
  • Two children: Connie Barfield and Marcia (Rick) Poynter

  • Five grandchildren: Leslie (Tom) Chall, Jon Barfield, and Jeff (Liz), Matt, and Zach Poynter

  • Two sisters: Esther (William) Watson and Margie Vaughn, Columbia, KY
Mr. Goodin was a faithful member of Parc-way Assembly of God. He had a great love for the Lord, family, and friends.

He was a WWII Army Veteran of the 580th Ambulance Division. He served in the Battle of the Bulge and earned European, African and Middle Easter theater ribbons, Good Conduct Medal, and a WWII Victory Medal. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 30 years of dedicated service.

Mr. Goodin enjoyed spending time with his many friends, as well as working in the garden and fishing.

Calling will be held from 4:00pm until 8:00pm on Sunday, April 3, 2008, at G.H. Hermann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis, IN.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00amCT on Monday, April 14, 2008, at Parc-way Assembly of God, 3500 E. Thompson RD, Indianapolis, IN, with calling there from 9:00am until the tie of service.

He will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
