Writer who lives at Giles House sees why they chose site By Susan J. Lewis The Janice and Henry Giles log cabin is a great subject for photos of the seasons in Adair County. The Giles Society is in the process of preserving this piece of history for future generations. As a current board member of the Giles Society Ive been given the privilege of living in the Becky House on the Giles property as the caretaker and gardener in residence. I know part of why Janice and Henry may have wanted to live in this valley the beautiful sunsets, the fog lifting off the pond in the mornings, the ice forming on the pond in the winter, the wildlife coming to drink in the pond and at the springs, the peaceful quiet nights with only the frogs croaking to break up the silence, the fresh clean smell of the morning, and even the steady winds that creak the house and sway the trees.
