Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial kickoff events

On Tuesday, February 12, 2008 the following events will be taking place at Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Site and at locations in Hodgenville, KY, and Elizabethtown,KY. President George W. Bush was invited to attend the Inaugural Event. First Lady Laura Bush is expected to be there in his stead at the 9:30amCT kickoff, along with Governor Steve Beshear and LaRue County dignitaries.:


  • 8:00amET/7:00pmCT: "Color Guard Flag Ceremony and Wreath Laying" onthe square in Hodgenville
  • 10:30amET/9:30CT: "Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Inaugural Event"
    The official kick-off event for theAbraham Lincoln Bicentennial Celebration will begin. Public is invited. Foradditional infomationon the Inaugural EventClick Here
  • 1:30pmET/12:30pmCT: "Annual Lincoln Days Luncheon"
    Luncheon will beginat 1:30 pm at the Abraham Lincoln School in Hodgenville. Tickets are available by calling 270-358-8710.
  • 3:00pmET/2:00pmCT: "Kentucky's Lincoln Heritage Trail"
    The Governor of Kentucky will unveil the first of many HistoricMarkers that will belocated along the Lincoln Heritage Trail.Unveiling will take placeon the square in downtown Hodgenville.
  • The City of Hodgenville invites everyone to Lincoln birthday party. Birthdaycake and other goodieswill beavailable on the squareimmediately after the unveiling.
ShuttleInformation:
Buses will run between 7:00amET/6:00amCT and 4:30pmET/3:30pmCT on February 12, 2008, and will travel to and from Abraham Lincoln Birthplace NHS from the following parking locations:
  • LaRue County High, Middle and Intermediate School Parking Lots located on 31E.
  • Abraham Lincoln Elementary School-parkingby luncheon ticket permits only.
Buses will carry passengers from parking areas to Inaugural Event, downtown Hodgenville, and Lincoln Days luncheon. Buses will run a continuous loop throughout the day until 4:30 pm.
