Feedback: Main strange aircraft could have been Gov. Beshear

LETTERS & FEEDBACK

Ed,
I too saw the planes in the Adair County skies Saturday, Feb. 9. I don't believe they were escort planes at all, but rather chase planes. I wonder if it could have been Governor Beshear being chased by members of the Ethics Committee.

Feedback: Disappointed in lack of imagination over GF UFOs

LETTERS & FEEDBACK

Ed,

ColumbiaMagazine.com

I am disappointed with the lack of imagination used to explain the strange UFO sighting near Hardscratch. Time was when such a happening spawned tales of Old Rob, the Traipsin Terrapin or Otley Gilpin's eyewitness account of a giant catfish devouring a yellow Volkswagen at Plum Point. Now the best that can be done is to allow it probably was just a Bush.

Feedback: More ideas on Louisville Skyline photo

LETTERS & FEEDBACK

Ed,

Pen:

Really nice photo. But I'm not sure what you mean by the melty effect on the Humana Building. If it's the bright orange, could that be the reflection from windows on the Paragon Building back on to the windows of the Humana building. Or more likely, since the Pargon Building was probably in the shadow of the Humana building, the Sun shining all the way through the Humana building? As I recall that portion of the Humana building in front is pretty narrow and the Sun was very bright and apparently right behind that part of the Humana building. Whatever it is, I think it adds to the photo.

LETTERS & FEEDBACK

Ed,

I just read about the strange sight that Tony and Ty Hodges saw over Hardscratch yesterday. I figure it probably was Air Force One as the First Lady, Laura Bush, is speaking in Hodgensville today at Lincoln's Birthplace for the anniversary of Lincoln's inauguration. I would love to have seen it myself! Oh well, better luck next time!

Letter: Strange sight in air in Glens Fork, Saturday

LETTERS & FEEDBACK

Ed,

My son and I were working outside at our home today (Saturday, February 9, 2008) in Glens Fork and we saw something unusual in the sky. My son Ty yelled for me to come look and we saw what appeared to be a large passenger jet with five fighter jets escorting it.

I didn' have time to get the camera, but we had binoculars to get a closer look. Do you have any idea what this could have been? I've never seen anything like that before...even in Hardscratch.Did anyone else see it?

s/Tony Hodges

Thanks so much. Could it have been Air Force One? President Bush was in Tennessee yesterday, wasn't he. Maybe not. Any comments would be welcome. By the way, this President Bush owes us a stop in Columbia. More on that later.-EW

Tom Chaney: Feb. 10, 2008: Sue Grafton at T

Of Writers And Their Books: Review of "T is for Trespass" By Tom Chaney
E-mail: bookstore@scrtc.com

Some time back I wrote about the Graftons, father and daughter. That was mostly based on my discovering C. W. Grafton, the father, for the first time.

I remarked that I was down to "S" in daughter Sue's alphabet and was waiting for "T".

T is for Trespass is out. I whiled away part of the long winter's drive to Minneapolis at Christmas time huddled in the back seat next to Kinsey Millhone, Grafton's California detective.

Feedback: On Louisville skyline photo by Pen

LETTERS & FEEDBACK

Ed,

To ColumbiaMagazine.com

As always, superbly done; also helps to be at the right place, right time.

The melted effect is light refracting through the mirrored glass, it's the same as when you see a skyscraper in the daytime. If they have the mirrored windows, the reflections of nearby building are usually distorted in the windows.
