Mens and Womens Basketball Falls at Georgetown By Chris Wells, LWC Sports Information Director GEOGETOWN, KY -- The Lindsey Wilson College mens and womens basketball teams suffered a Mid-South Conference sweep at the hands of Georgetown (KY) College today at Alumni Gymnasium. Despite 25 points and 11 rebounds from freshman Viktoria Krell, the Blue Raider women ( 16-9, 4-1) lost for the first time this season in the MSC 77-71 to the host Lady Tigers (16-7, 4-1). Lindsey Wilson struggled on the offensive end making just 38 percent (27-of-71) from the field in the loss. Georgetown countered with 47.3 percent (26-of-55) from the field. The Lady Tigers closed the game with timely free throws as Georgetown made 19-of-27 for the game, but six straight inside the final minute to secure the win. Lindsey Wilson and Georgetown join University of the Cumberlands atop the MSC at 4-1 with todays outcome. Georgetown sophomore guard Jayme Gilbert scored a career-high 34 points in the win. Junior guard Katie Filiatreau added 18 off the bench. Lindsey Wilson senior center Terran Duncan scored 14 points, while senior guard Krystal Jackson added 11. In the nightcap, No. 2-ranked Georgetown (25-0, 5-0) held the Blue Raider men scoreless for more than eight minutes en route to a 95-48 rout. The Tigers, who have the nations longest winning streak, used a 20-0 run during the 8:37 to turn a 9-9 tie into a 29-9 lead and coasted to the win. Lindsey Wilson (15-9, 3-2) shot just 28.1 percent (16-of-57) from the field, including 5-of-20 from three-point range. Georgetown made 63.5 percent (33-of-52) from the field and a stellar 81.8 percent (9-of-11) from three-point range. Lindsey Wilson junior guard George White led the Blue Raiders with a game-high 25 points. Georgetown junior Demetrius Guoins led the Tigers with 22 points. The Blue Raiders return to action on Saturday, February 16, 2008 as Lindsey Wilson hosts Cumberlands in a womens and mens doubleheader. The women tip-off at 2pmCT with the mens game to follow.
