Gospel group SOS to perform at Ransdell Chapel

Event is part of CU's Black History Month events

The gospel group "SOS" from Simmons College of Kentucky will be performing for Campbellsville University at 7pmET/6PmCT Tuesday, February 19, 2008, in the Ransdell Chapel.

The group was invited to Campbellsville University by the Office of Church and External Relations in order to participate in the sequential events celebrating Black History Month.

The public is invited to the event which is free of charge.

Mechanical problems temporarily sideline bookmobile

The Adair County Public Library would like to let all bookmobile patrons know that the bookmobile is off the road due to mechanical problems. We are working very hard to get the bookmobile back on the road. If you have any questions please call the library at (270) 384-2472. Judge Melton, Fiscal Court to recognize returning veterans

CJE requests Adair Countians help in compiling list to be honored

Adair County Judge Executive Ann Melton is asking all citizens of Adair County to help the County to recognize all the Adair Countians who have returned after serving overseas in one of the Armed Services.

"We would like to dedicate one of our Fiscal Court meetings in 2008 to the the brave Adair County men and women who have returned from service in a foreign country," she said. "To do so, we'll need help from families, neighbors, loved ones and friends to help us identify and locate those we should honor."

Red letter day! Adair Co. Water plant is online!

Adair County Water District Manager Lenny Stone got the first drink of water this morning,

Tuesday, January 22, 2008, at 8:00amCT/7:00amET,

as the new plant went officially online.

"It tastes good," Stone said.

And this is for real. The $14 million dollar plant--$15 million with backup generator--started the flow of water which will supply all of Adair County, including the City of Columbia, and will have the capacity to produce water for sale, as needed, in outlying areas.

Mark this day & date on your calendar as one of the most significant events in Adair County History.

3 injured in early AM crash at snow slickened crossroads

POLICE REPORTS

A two-vehicle injury accident occurred this morning at 6:15amET at the snow slickened intersection of US 150/1043 in Washington CO, KY.

Robert Reynolds, 31, Springfield, KY, was traveling north on Hwy 1043 and tried to stop at the intersection with US 150, but slid through it and collided with a 1998 Chevy Pickup operated by Gregory Mills, 40, Lebanon, KY, who was traveling west on US 150.

Fire destroys Rowetown Road house

The Breeding Area Volunteer Fire Department responded to an abandoned house fire at 490 Rowetown Road on Monday January 21, 2008.

The call came in at 2:32pm., Monday, January 21, 2008. Firefighters responded quickly and found the house was completely engulfed.

David Jones announces no school today in Adair County, KY

There will be no school in the Adair County School District today. David Jones, Director of Student Transportation for the Adair County Schools called today, Tuesday, January 22, 2008, at 5:18amCT to make the announcement that school is cancelled today.

A lght snow has blanketed the county, making some roadways hazardous.
