Judge Melton, Fiscal Court to recognize returning veterans CJE requests Adair Countians help in compiling list to be honored By Ed Waggener ColumbiaMagazine.com story Adair County Judge Executive Ann Melton is asking all citizens of Adair County to help the County to recognize all the Adair Countians who have returned after serving overseas in one of the Armed Services. "We would like to dedicate one of our Fiscal Court meetings in 2008 to the the brave Adair County men and women who have returned from service in a foreign country," she said. "To do so, we'll need help from families, neighbors, loved ones and friends to help us identify and locate those we should honor." CJE Administrative Assistant Lisa Lee said that those to be honored at the March 11, 2008 Regular Second Tuesday meeting will be those who have returned between March 1, 2007 and February 29, 2008. "That's also the deadline," she said. "We'll need a few days before the March 11 meeting to get the certificates ready," she said. The returning service people who are eligible whether they have served in a combat zone or not, Lisa Lee said. Each of those being recognized will be made an Adair County General, the highest award accorded by the Adair County Judge Executive. Those who can can help with this project are asked to come by the Judge Executive's Office in Suite 1, Adair Annex Building, 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY 42728, call (270) 384-4703.
