Linda, The Smith Christmas Challenge has reached $6,500!!! We're getting a terrific response from the community. People have been so generous and had so many great ideas. Ive gotten an e-mail from someone today who had seen your site and she said she had cried through the whole story.

CANCER FUND-RAISER BEARS AVAILABLE FOR GIFT SEASON. Ellen Zornes at left, the Relay for Life Team Captain and committee member, presents Angie Dean, Adair County Relay for Life Chairperson with the Columbia Baptist Church and Lighthouse, Title IV teams' collectable Teddy Bear. The adorable, soft, cuddly 6-inch Teddy Bears, are being offered by the Columbia Baptist Church and Lighthouse, Title IV Relay for Life teams. A different bear is being offered each year; this is the second bear in the series. They are $6.00 each and to adopt this year's bear, just stop by Durham and Zornes, the Adair County Public Library or see any Relay for Life team member. If you are out of town and would like to call, the library number is (270) 384-2472.

Live nativity at Sparksville's Antioch UMC Friday

Antioch United Methodist Church in Sparksville will be having a live Nativity from 6:00-8:30pm this coming Friday evening, December 15th. The Christmas story will be told every 20 minutes.

KSP testing to ID victim of fatal KY 55 crash

A fatal crash which occurred on Sunday, December 10, 2006, around 11:47am. in Washington County is being investigated by the Kentucky State Police.

The victim has not yet been identified.

Harry Furkins writes that descendants of one Breeding couple have had at least 14 members to have served in armed forces of the United States. More names of Breeding area folks added to the Adair Veterans List. He notes a very special career airman

Two car accident results in injuries to four

An injury accident occurred at 9:45am, Saturday, December 9, 2006, one mile west of Albany on Old Burkesville Road.

Joshua Parragin, 17, Albany, KY, was pulling onto Old Burkesville Road in a 1999 Chevrolet pickup, and was struck by a 1996 Nissan Sentra, which was operated by Wendell Shelton, 28, Albany, KY, and which was travelling west on Old Burkesville Road,
