Remembering Stacie Lea Gebler who died at age 23

MISSING STACIE:
Regina Overby sent a request to ColumbiaMagazine.com and asked that we print her daughter's obituary among our listings. She said she misses her Stacie "so much". The photos above show 23-year-old Stacie Lea Gebler of Knifley who was killed in an automobile accident on April 12, 2004, at left. In addition to her parents, Stacie is survived by her children in the photo at right, son, Cory Fowler, and daughter, Hailey Gebler. Click 'read more' for her obituary.

Walk-in flu clinic Nov. 13, at health department

A walk-in flu shot clinic will be held on Monday, November 13, 2006 at the Adair County Health Department at 801 Westlake Drive. Clinic hours will be from 2:00 to 6:00pm CT.

No appointment will be necessary for this clinic.

Tom Winski to receive JEA's Medal of Merit

Award will be presented Saturday at Opryland

The Journalism Education Association (JEA) will honor Tom Winski of Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, KY, with its Medal of Merit award during the organization's national convention next month. The award will be presented at a luncheon at Gaylord Opryland in Nashville, TN, Saturday, November 11.

JEA's Medal of Merit recognizes educators and other JEA members who have made substantial contributions to JEA and to scholastic journalism. Winski, a Certified Journalism Educator, is one of five individuals around the country selected for this award in 2006.

A memorial service for popular Columbia businessman, Utilities Board Commissioner, and Civic Leader Craig Williams will be Saturday, November 11, 2006, at 1:00pm CT, at the Columbia United Methodist Church in Columbia, KY, with Rev. David Alexander the officiating clergy .

ACES honors Veterans at 1:00pm CT, Fri., Nov. 10, 2006

Adair County Elementary School will be holding their Veterans Day ceremony on Friday, November 10, 2006, at 1:00pm in the school gymnasium.

The program will include patriotic readings from students, patriotic music, and recognizing of veterans in attendance.

Election 2006: Michael Loy cruises to victory in judge race

Young Columbia attorney gets over 70% of Adair County vote, carries every Adair County precinct, all categories of absentee voting, to win 29th Judicial District Judgeship over Raymond Overstreet

Michael Loy learned about his 227 to 109 Absentee Machine victory in Adair County before noon election day, but he resisted the suggestions that he call Casey County to see how the vote was going there. "I'd rather get all the bad news at once," he said.

Race is close, but Casey gives bigger margin to Judge Weddle than edge Williams gets in Adair County

Twenty-ninth Judicial District Judge James G. Weddle, Liberty, and challenger, Columbia attorney Gail Williams, each carried their home counties, but Judge Weddle won the combined totals to retain the judgeship.
