Election 2006: Circuit Court Judge candidates carry home counties

Race is close, but Casey gives bigger margin to Judge Weddle than edge Williams gets in Adair County

By Ed Waggener

Twenty-ninth Judicial District Judge James G. Weddle, Liberty, and challenger, Columbia attorney Gail Williams, each carried their home counties, but Judge Weddle won the combined totals to retain the judgeship.

Williams carried 14 Adair County precincts, tied in one, and lost only one, Knifley-Roley, in capturing 57.50% of the vote in Adair County.

The vote in Adair County in the race was:

Gail Williams, 3,425; James G. Weddle, 2,532
But the overall vote when the Casey and Adair County votes were combined gave Weddle 5,425 to Williams' 4,852.
