Election 2006: Michael Loy cruises to victory in judge race Young Columbia attorney gets over 70% of Adair County vote, carries every Adair County precinct, all categories of absentee voting, to win 29th Judicial District Judgeship over Raymond Overstreet By Ed Waggener Michael Loy learned about his 227 to 109 Absentee Machine victory in Adair County before noon election day, but he resisted the suggestions that he call Casey County to see how the vote was going there. "I'd rather get all the bad news at once," he said. The day brought no more bad news. Quietly pacing the hallway, he had said that he had calculated that anything over 65% in Adair County would offset the margin Raymond Overstreet would get in Casey. When the counting was over, homefolks delivered 70.06% of the vote to Loy, and gave him an exceptionally strong victory with 57.1% of the combined Adair-Casey vote. Loy's winning percentage was among highest in Adair County for the evening in contest races, behind only Columbia Mayor Pat Bell's 75.29%, Adair County Regional Jailer Bug Knight's 71.59%, and Rep. Ed Whitfield's 71.03%.
