Adv: Today's Events are brought to you by HUDDLE HOUSE, across KY 210 from Wal-Mart, Campbellsville, KY. Join us for a great food. Breakfasts are served 24/7/365, along with the mouth-watering lunch and dinner entrees. Eat with home folks. You never know who you'll run into from Adair County at the HUDDLE HOUSE. Gaylon & Phyllis Yarberry, owners
A note: The Huddle House is great for the whole family, but if you're alone it may be the only place to not feel lonely. At the counter, you get to watch a food show which is better than anything on satellite. If there's an Olympics for grill cooks, these guys would win it. The action is fast and accurate; the sounds musical. Watch the grill cook make exact servings out of a mound of hashbrowns. Too, the counter is a fine perspective for spotting important Adair Countians, or hear an instant food critic, a total stranger to you until you sat down but who is now your best friend, pronounce his pork chops the best he'd ever eaten, making you regret you didn't order the same.

Recalling Columbia heroes. Picturesque Adair County speech: Rev. Gilbert Harmon was relating the generosity of the late David Heskamp, who always carried money strictly for alms in one of his inside suit jacket pockets. His other pocket was reserved for trading funds, and never did the two mix. Rev. Harmon tells about one cold day, and Mr. Heskamp had just given money to a little family--a small, frail young mother toting two babies. As the woman was leaving, Mr. Harmon relates, Mr. Heskamp called him to the window. "Look at that poor thing. She doesn't have enough clothes on to wad a shotgun." Rev. Harmon says that not enough people knew it, because Mr. Heskamp kept his philanthropy quiet. "But he was a giving man. He helped more people than the welfare department," Rev. Harmon said.
