Sharon Stotts celebrating after donating life saving platelets

2006-07-14 - Columbia - Photo Linda Waggener. SHARON STOTTS GAVE THE GIFT OF LIFE when she recently traveled to Lexington to donate blood platelets to a 57 year old woman she'd never met who had been on the donation list for several years. Her daughter, Nicole Jackson, writes, "Without my mother's donation she probably would have died. Maybe her story would help to inspire others to sign up on the donation list." Sharon made trips over two days for the process which took a total of about 15 hours. Her husband Steve was so proud of Sharon for what she'd done, and said, "you know, she went straight from that ordeal to Tennessee with me on a trail ride near Jamestown." Sharon said they had told her to be careful because she might bruise more easily after the stem cell procedure and that while she felt fine, she did notice the bruising part was true after the trail ride.
