Epicurean Kentuckian: A more perfect, Pickle-Dog centric, meal This could be the Last Word on this subject, unless anyone wants to seriously take issue with the notion that banana flavored Moon Pies are the best choice of flavor JIM: As today, improved transportation was issue 100 years ago By Ed Waggener Jim has been advising on a picnic day trip to conduct research project retracing a route along the Russell-Adair County frontier, from Crocus to Montpelier, and suggests taking along a more perfect meal: "Y'all have a fun trip --and have a few bites of Pickle Dog for me. It's better when it's fixed up rag'l'r, you know, with Saltines, a cane sugar Coca-Cola, a bag of salty redskins, and a Moon Pie (banana flavor, please!)"Yum-m-m! Well balanced, but more importantly, delicious. He follows with the lament of so many ex-pats, "Boy, my breakfast apple and orange certain pale in light of that menu!" Yessir, it do. The meal works best for this trip, but the ingredients, likely not available today from one outfitter, could become standard fair for any Pickle Dog Picnic Day Trip or Know-Your-County-Better-Tour. - EW/LW at CM 2016-04-08 05:35:06 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Food
