Plan a safe ride home in Halloween season

From Marla Marrs

Frankfort, KY - To keep Kentuckians safe this Halloween season, Team Kentucky is reminding drivers to plan a safe ride home if festivities include drinking, and to watch for pedestrians.

Follow these simple tips for a safe celebration:
  • Designate a sober driver, use public transportation, or request a ride share even if you only have one alcoholic beverage.
  • Walking while impaired can be just as dangerous as driving drunk. If intoxicated, designate a sober friend to walk you home and use caution.
  • If you see a drunk driver, contact law enforcement. You may call the Kentucky State Police toll-free line at 1-800-222-5555 or use the one-touch dial feature through the Kentucky State Police's app. Callers will remain anonymous and should provide a description of the vehicle, location, direction of travel and license number if possible.
  • Have a friend who is about to drink and drive? Take their keys away and arrange for a safe ride home.
  • Wear a seat belt. It is not only the law; it is the best defense against an impaired driver. Buckling up helps prevent injury and death if involved in a crash.
"It's important that Kentuckians make smart choices to protect themselves and others while on the road," said Gov. Andy Beshear. "Please plan ahead, make sure you have a safe way to get home and do not get behind the wheel after drinking. I hope everyone has a safe, happy Halloween."

Volleyball: Indians fight to 5th set against Taylor Co.

By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer

On Thursday, October 23, 2025, the Adair County Lady Indians fell in 5 sets in the 20th District Tournament, 3-2, to the Taylor County Lady Cardinals.

Taylor County took the first set 25-13, as Adair County struggled to get their feet under them early. The Indians came back to win the second set 25-20. Taylor County would then grab the third set 25-22, before the Lady Tribe would come back and win the fourth, 25-19. This set up a competitive and chaotic fifth set that saw Adair County fall 15-13. The Lady Indians took a hard hit as Sophomore Addie Bowman left the game in the third set with an injury.

Despite a tough night in Campbellsville, the season is not yet over. The Lady Indians will move on to the 5th Region Tournament for the first time ever, and continue their historic season.

LWU students eat and flop to usher in Homecoming Weekend

By Duane Bonifer

Lindsey Wilson University has the most successful intercollegiate athletics program in Kentucky, but for two nights leading up to Homecoming Weekend 2025, the university's students embraced two kinds of competition that won't be found on the university's athletics website or in Blue Raider record books.

On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, several hundred Lindsey Wilson students gathered on the Campus Quadrangle to see which classmate could consume the most hot dogs and buns.

And on Thursday, October 23, hundreds filled the Doris and Bob Holloway Health & Wellness Center natatorium to see which student could make the biggest and most impressive splash in the annual Lindsey Wilson Belly Flop Championships.

One competition was a battle of caloric intake, the other rewarded tolerating a little pain in order to achieve a high level of aquatic expression and creativity. Both contests were won by a freshman.
