Kentucky Color: Garrett Creek Road

By Billy Joe Fudge

Garrett Creek Road is alive with Asters. There are white ones and these Blue Forest Asters growing on the wooded roadside (click title to see article with photo). My app identifies them as Drummond's Asters.

They aren't bold or flashy but soft and delicate. So make up your mind to go and see them. They are one of the last feasts for pollinators. Enjoy the ride, the early fall colors and nuances of green between Hwy 61 and the Subtle Community.

Yes, there is a challenging climb up or descent down Garrett Creek Hill which seems to never end. The hill itself is asphalt and might be defined as; almost, maybe, nearly, could be, one single lane. Be prepared to be creative in passing should you meet one of the three or four vehicles a day making the trip "up" to Metcalfe County or "down" to Cumberland County.

Hint: you and the other driver in order to engineer a passing plan, will have to "meet in the middle", since there is nothing but middle, most places on the hill!

Load up the spouse or find a friend and take a ride in the wilds of the Great Wooded South! Enjoy the view and remember, "Art is where you find it!"

Campbellsville Police respond to shots fired call

On Friday, October 10, 2025 at approx. 5:34 PM, a 9-1-1 call was received reporting what caller believed could possibly have been shots fired in the vicinity of Taylor Regional Hospital.

Campbellsville Police was dispatched and after an investigation, it was determined that no shots were fired and no threat to TRH or the community. As a precaution, TRH was placed on a brief lockdown and that has since been lifted.
